LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Debra Messing is back at NBC.

The network is in negotiations to pick up a single-camera comedy toplined by the former "Will & Grace" star and written by Josann McGibbon and Sara Parriott.

The untitled comedy -- which sparked a bidding war between NBC and ABC after interest from several networks -- stars Messing as a laid-off CEO who is as ill-prepared to be a full-time wife and mother as her husband is to provide for the family.

The project reunites Messing with McGibbon and Parriott, who wrote and executive produced "The Starter Wife," the USA Network miniseries that she toplined. "Wife" earned 10 Emmy nominations and became a series.

Messing received an Emmy nomination for "Wife," adding to her five nominations for NBC's "Will & Grace," including a win in 2003.

McGibbon and Parriott's feature credits include the 1999 hit "Runaway Bride."

The first thing that I would like to do is apologize to the last respondee for not knowing anything about whatever happened with this petential show! I am posting here as simply one more attempt to liven things up on this page. So far this evening, I have been all over the board and found very little action! I have done what I could think of the stimulate conversation on the pages of The Brady Bunch, Caroline in the City, Facts of Life, Friends, Gimme a Break!, and Mad About You. Since I started only one other person has posted another response on top of mine. This was on the "Friends" page. It had to do with Jennifer Aniston's supposed plans to open a Mexican restaurant. In any event, even though this person responded to the thread, it was about a different sub-topic than the one that I posted. In other words, it was not a response to my response. Maybe things will be different this time around!
