LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Debra Messing is back at NBC.
The network is in negotiations to pick up a single-camera comedy toplined by the former "Will & Grace" star and written by Josann McGibbon and Sara Parriott.
The untitled comedy -- which sparked a bidding war between NBC and ABC after interest from several networks -- stars Messing as a laid-off CEO who is as ill-prepared to be a full-time wife and mother as her husband is to provide for the family.
The project reunites Messing with McGibbon and Parriott, who wrote and executive produced "The Starter Wife," the USA Network miniseries that she toplined. "Wife" earned 10 Emmy nominations and became a series.
Messing received an Emmy nomination for "Wife," adding to her five nominations for NBC's "Will & Grace," including a win in 2003.
McGibbon and Parriott's feature credits include the 1999 hit "Runaway Bride."
