I have an IPod. The brand of my IPod is Apple. The good thing about an IPod you can listen to your music from the computer and no more playing your CD's from the stereo. When your going for a walk outside you can put the earplug inside your ears with the IPod.

I have a 3rd generation iPod Nano. I use it a lot. I take to work with me and I put on a speaker dock to listen to music.

i had one. like 90% of all other ipods, it became slightly dysfunctional and then spiraled into an unstable piece of crap after two months of proper care and maintenance. i use a ZEN stone for mp3's. it's the tiniest mp3 player i've ever seen and i've had it for two years...still works a hell of a lot better than the damn ipod ever did. only drawback is that i lose it easily, lol.

I have an 8G Nano (I think it's 8G), silver color. I have about 500 songs on it, with several more songs to add; I also have some podcasts on it which I seldom listen to. When I go into iTunes it shows them as inactive and I usually end up deleting them, especially the video podcasts (which take too long to download, and take up too much memory.) If I want to watch a news show, for example, I figure I'll watch it on TV. I've found that downloading it to watch it later is just something I don't do, and even if I did watch it later, it's not current news anymore!
(In a somewhat related topic, has anyone here on SO backed up iTunes when they were going to buy a new/switch to a different computer? How complicated is it? The whole prospect scares me. I'm planning on getting a new computer this summer, maybe a Mac (I have a PC currently). Is the switch a daunting prospect? I don't want to lose my playlists; many of the songs on it have been purchased, and not from my own CDs.)Thanks.

I have an iPod classic, I bought it about 2 and a half years ago. I want to upgrade to an iPod touch but I'm hesitating since my current iPod is still working
I've had a fifth generation 30 gb iPod since December of 2006. I might upgrade it soon.

Right backup all your music to data CD's. Also if you decide to switch to a Mac. Apple offers services for PC users to have their data and files from the PC converted to a Mac. Maybe check out Apple's site and try to find info.
