So I've started my new blog (as can be found in my signature), just about TV related things and all that. But today, I received a very interesting tip regarding CBS' fall schedule. In fact, it's so interesting, and so believable, I put it on my blog.

it's almost shocking in a way. I'm hoping you guys will all go to my blog and read about it. It all includes news from The Mentalist moving to Thursdays at 10pm, to comedies on Saturdays, to all on the bubble shows being renewed. All very interesting.

So, go check it out, and post comments on my blog! You can check it out here:

Wednesdays:
8:00 Criminal Minds
9:00 Gary Unmarried
9:30 Accidentally on Purpose
10:00 Without a Trace

Wow...that's a terrible move. You don't show a drama, then comedies, then another drama. I'd bet that doesn't happen.

And I do not like seeing Criminal Minds and CSI:NY split up. I think they work very well together.

I agree with that. Airing a comedy hour inbetween 2 crime dramas is absurd. But, I think airing Criminal Minds with NCIS on Tuesdays is a good idea, especially if The Mentalist is moving to Thursdays (which also isn't a bad move)

That's a very good idea - I'm amazed at how many people have come to check it out in just 1 day. As long as I keep posting interesting information, I guess people will come-LOL.

Julie, your blog is great. I especially like how you concentrated on CBS right now since I think they are the best network. :) As for the Mentalist moving to Thursday, I'm not really for it. I like the NCIS-Mentalist block the way it is. If they were to move it, I would rather it go to Tuesday at 10 and have the NCIS spin-off at 9. That way it would be a great night.

Thankyou - a blog is something I've always wanted to do, so I'm glad to finally have the time to do it. I love CBS - they're probably my favorite network as well, for many reasons, so I'm glad to be concentrating on them, while also offer news on other networks and such.

I love watching The Mentalist Tuesdays at 9pm - it's the perfect slot for me to watch it-lol, but its also a good slot for CBS to have it. But, as NCIS and The Mentalist are becoming stronger on Tuesdays, Survivor and CSI are becoming weaker on Thursdays, so I can understand why they'd want to move it to Thursdays at 10pm. It'll be interesting to see what they do for next season. Thanks for reading!

I woudn't mind a weekly variety show. I think the problems that NBC and Fox had was because of who they got to star in them. Who wants to watch Rosie O'Donnell and the Osbournes?lol

Sitcoms on Saturdays used to work once upon a time. Remember CBS' great Saturday lineup in the '70s and NBC's powerhouse lineup in the '80s? If the networks put something that people will want to watch, they will show up. This dead end strategy of showing reruns of crime procedurals, newsmagazines or no longer relevant to network TV theatrical repeats needs to be stopped.

I know. The last shows I watched on Saturday were Walker Texas Ranger and Early Edition and I always looked forward to them too. I'm afraid Fridays might go the way of Saturday before too long. I hope not though.

It's great that we have a network like CBS that is singlehandedly keeping Fridays alive. Ghost Whisperer still pulls in 11 million on the night, and Flashpoint and Numn3rs are right under it. Let's face it - the other nets have given up the night to weak programming and burnoffs.

I have faith in CBS for reviving Saturday nights - why not try a sitcom block there? And if it fails, at least CBS will know by having tried it. Or, it could become a moderate success for them. I'm really hoping we see a Saturday comedy block in the future, whether it be next season or not.

A weekly variety show on Saturdays would also be nice to see. Like you said, NBC had Rosie and FOX had the Osbournes, and that just didn't work. If CBS gets a good variety show going, it could definitely work.

Just a disclaimer, but Julie forwarded me the original grids from this "source" and I have to say they are very very fishy. They are "Wikipedia" style grids, with even links to Wikipedia for each show! The guy who did them couldn't even color coordinate the grids like they do. Different colors for everything! I have seen many fake stuff posted at Wikipedia, so this is nothing new--even though this is a lot of info, someone has a lot of time on their hands to do this. Some of the schedules are completely ludicrous, too (yeah they are not going to expand Saturday hours and adding late night encores...and 10pm half-hour comedies?). Julie's blog is new, which makes this "source" even more puzzling. Why would they go to her with this info?

I know what CBS's style is with programming and they don't have Wikipedia style grids when releasing schedules. And most of the pilots have not been even screened yet, so why would they start scheduling them already? CBS is not stupid like NBC. The sitcoms are taping now. Upfront week is week of May 18, so we have a full month to go still and schedules and stuff are not really set in stone until even a few days or even hours before upfront. Right now the goal is to find the best pilots. Scheduling is not the priority right now.

I really hate false information, and would like to clear this up. Be aware.

There are 4 reasons I think this is nonsense:

A. Why would CBS revamp their entire lineup? Struggling networks do it, #1 networks don't, it makes no sense

B. ANY original programming on Saturday. Also why would they expand when Saturday is a wasteland? It's a dead night of TV, it's going to go back to affiliates in a few years, not be expanded.

C. All the bubble shows coming back. Also not happening.

D. The late night repeats. There's no point and that belongs to the affiliates now. Primetime TV on a national scale is on it's way out, they are not going to be expanding hours on any night. It's a pipedream.

Not to mention it's a month before upfronts and most of the schedules seem so random(and why are there so many?). Also, look at CBS's fall schedules the past few years. Very few changes, you don't mess with success.

I don't doubt that CBS might make a big move like ABC did moving Grey's to Thursdays 3 years ago but the idea that every night is getting a revamp is utterly ridiculous.

Why not turn Saturday night into a true retro night? CBS could negotiate to obtain a best of package from Carol Burnett and air the original hour long shows.
Maybe that's a pipe dream, but NO ONE ELSE is airing this stuff....there's no production costs involved, just paying residuals and royalties for the music clearances and since they are already using Saturday night for reruns anyway, why not air something that just may grab more than 10 million viewers?
Just a thought, so all don't jump down my throat for suggesting it.

If CBS brings back every one of their existing shows it will be the first in network history. It is just not feasible to bring back every show and have new shows. Something has to be canceled. I also find it strange how CBS whose shows repeat the best of any network would now reduce their repeating and increase new shows. It would just be too costly to pay for all these shows.

I am sure Julie is reporting what she has heard, but it really sounds bogus to me. As Pavan said, they haven't even seen all the pilots yet. I saw that some of the pilots are not even taping until late April. How could they be doing these schedules already ?

They would just be sketch schedules, just plotting things they may want to do in the future, or what they may want to do with their new pilots, but won't end up doing at all. But who knows.

I am sorry but these are everything but real. There are shows on these schedule that have had their pilot order rescinded. This is just someone pretending to be working at CBS and trying to get attention. I really don't understand how people can believe any of it.

Nobody would risk loosing their job by giving detailed information like that out to a blogger, even if it was a well known blogger.

If scheduled are being done before pilots are done they are very very under wrap and nobody with their right mind would be leeking that much info.

Also daytime and primetime are completely different divisions at network and not the same people are dealing with these, only the very high up in the chain of command know about both.

So unless Les Mooves has giving you this information, you should stop putting it out there, unless you are doing this knowingly just to get the attention, but I don't think so...

just my view on this...
