Anne Hathaway Cast As Judy Garland for Biopic!

Oscar-nominated actress Anne Hathaway will play Judy Garland in stage and screen adaptations of Gerald Clarke's 2001 biography Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland for the Weinstein Company. According to a statement released by the Weinstein Co. today, Clarke's book "portrays the dramatic highs and lows of the cultural icon's life -- from her tumultuous early years as a child performer to her tragic last days." The Weinstein Co. has optioned both the stage and film rights, but there is no start date yet for either production, nor is there a director or writer.

I like Anne but for some reason I really can't see her playing Judy Garland. But we will have to wait and see.

I think it's a perfect fit. They both have those big expressive eyes. I think Anne Hathaway is much prettier than Judy Garland was, but the experts will make her over to look like her. She's a very good actress. I can't think of anyone better for the role.

I remember that movie as well....Tammy Blanchard played Judy as a youth while Judy Davis did the adult Judy. It was very well done. Victor Garber was also in it as one of Judy's husbands., I think Vincent Minelli.

Anne did a great job in Rachel Getting Married, so I think she'll do well in the Judy Garland bio pic. I seen the 2001 movie with Judy Davis it was really good. Hopefully the movie will be done right.

I can definitely see Anne pulling it off. She has the look, the ability, infact, I can't think of an actress off the top of my head who I think could pull it off better than her. I think it's great casting!!
