Based on James Lee Burke's novel "In the Electric Mist with the Confederate Dead", Tommy Lee Jones (excellent choice!) portrays Cajun detective Dave Robichaux who as a teen witnessed a brutal murder of a black man, whose body has now just resurfaced in the aftermath of Katrina.
At the same time, grisly murders of local prostitutes are leaving him bewildered as why no one wants to talk, while a movie is being filmed in the area. John Goodman plays a local mobster who is financing the movie and doesn't like Dave poking around, while an old friend of his is working security on the movie set.
When the actress of the movie is accidentally killed, when the killer was actually gunning for Dave, things really intensify and lead to the killer abducting Dave's young daughter.All the events end up being connected to one another.
A great cast supports this Tommy Lee Jones showcase that includes Peter Saarsgard, Ned Beatty, and Mary Steenburgen. Enjoyed this murder mystery a lot as well as plenty of local Louisiana scenery. Here's hoping they decide to film more of Burke's Robichaux novels, with Tommy.
