H&R Block will once again rob us of $230 to do our taxes this year. We have very simple returns to prepare too, and we don't even work. Still, they've got us over a barrel because they know the Ins and Outs. Hate 'em, lol.

i used the H&R Taxcut "free" online (http://www.hrblock.com/taxes/partner/index.jsp?otpPartnerId=180) version (they do charge you $29.95 for the electonic filing fees) - took me less than an hour and we already got our refund back last week.

ME - and I'm having a nightmare figuring them out this year.
Supposedly we went to a "quick and easy" tax form a few years ago.....I dunno what happened to it - you need to be J.P. Morgan to figure it out now!
And after you get done all the "cyphering" you still come up with lots of zeros - and they're not behind a whole number either! ugh!

My sister does mine every year. To thank her, I treat her to a steak dinner every year. Since she's pregnant this time, she may be eating TWO steak dinners!! It's OK, I don't mind.

My mom's friend did but he went off to Saudi Arabia/Iraq as a government consultation or something like that. So my mom had to find one, she found a guy who was putting flyers on doors. He's been doing it since even though my mom's friend is back in town, hopefully forever, she's gonna stick with the guy she is using.

My husband and I sit down and we try to do them together, but I always end up doing them by myself. We may argue about it, but it's free

I do my own taxes, always have. I also do my sister's taxes, my mom's, and my best friend's as well. I actually kind of like it. ;) Maybe I should have been an accountant.

Been doing mine online for the past three years with TaxACT, this year I added the state portion and just paid $13.95 total.
Now if only the IRS would stop playing games with the date of my refund!
GRRRRRRRR!!!!!

I used to get a kick out of it (which is REALLY weird for me!) but the past couple of years it's been getting more and more complicated and I end up usually thinking I owe, but I'll say that, it's been a nice surprise when it turned out I had a bit of a refund at least.
I phone it in on a landline and it's even faster and easier than doing it online. With my wacky night owl hours, I just do it in the middle of the night and you get right thru.
I did get mine finished tonight but will proof it tomorrow when I'm fresh. I think I might have actually got it right this year for a change! yay me!

If I ever attempted to do my taxes, it would look like a scene out of I Love Lucy. I'm allergic to numbers.
My mom does mine, she actually likes doing taxes.
OH Nuts!

I do my own since mine are pretty straightforward. I juse the shorter forms for Fed & State. The most complicated it generally ever got for me was when I itemized deductions. Then I had to use the long forms which were kind of tedious since I just ended up entering a lot of zeros.
Those advance refund schemes of H & R Block, at least to me, seem like one giant rip off.
I'm pretty good w #s so filling out stuff like this doesn't phase me. The only TIME I got stymied is when I cashed in a stock option grant (when stocks were worth something) from a co. I worked for. That yr I had to file a Sched D which was confusing as he**. But I just went to the IRS help line and asked for help & used the info my co gave me for filing. Since both sources said the same thing I just did what they said.
If I were self-employed I'd probably use an accountant though - at least the first couple of yrs.

LOL I felt a bit like Tommy Chong tonight doing mine! I KNEW something wasn't right, and looked back on past year's to try to follow along, and then would get sidetracked looking at another possible deduction (I'm lookin' for every dime this year!) and then would forget where I was and what sheet I was even working on (our fed ones are blue and provincial are pinks). Then I'd get on track again and see everything was accounted for but for some reason had me paying back when I earned less than ever!
Finally, after a good 5 hours I realized I hadn't picked up all the income tax paid (I'm working off 3 T4's - which are your W-somethings I think - it's the form you get from your employer LOL). Such a blantant mistake too.
Lord help me if I ever decide to actually invest in something and actually earn income off it!
So Hiya Luuuuccy!

I've always done my own, for more than 20 years now. The only times it really got complicated was when I had deaths in the family and had to deal with estate issues. My attorney helped me through most of that.
At IRS.gov, you can download forms and publications that are helpful. Also, within limits, you can have the stuff mailed to you for free. These come in handy if you deal with IRAs, estates, capital gains, savings bonds, and all that "neat junk."

I always used to use H&R Block for my taxes, but this year, I actually did them on my own using Turbo Tax. I had all the forms I needed and they made it easy for me to do so. Got my refund today, too. Now I can actually budget more comfortably.

My dad and I do taxes for the entire family. It's fun and gives dad and I time together. Dad has done everybody's taxes for years, and after I started taking all my accounting classes in college, I started helping out. This might sound weird....but I think doing taxes are fun. (I know I'm weird, but I see it as a big puzzle.)

Nothing wrong with that!! Some people have a gift for doing taxes. I just don't happen to be one of them.
