LOS ANGELES – "America's Got Talent" isn't getting more of Jerry Springer.

Springer says he won't return as host of the NBC talent contest this summer.

In a statement Thursday, Springer said he's leaving the show because of other commitments, including his syndicated talk show and a stage role. He didn't offer details about the play.

Known for his freewheeling talk show, Springer got an image makeover when he appeared in 2006 on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" and won viewers' affection with his self-deprecating humor. The stint on "America's Got Talent" followed in summer 2007.

Springer called his job on the high-rated show produced by FremantleMedia "an amazing ride." His replacement for the upcoming fourth season wasn't announced Thursday

Wonder if Regis would be able to return? But I guess that would just be wishful thinking.

Ahhh too bad - I really liked Jerry hosting that show. :(

Regis probably wouldn't do it since it's probably a fairly long-term commitment and he's at the age he'd want a break in the summer.

Maybe John O'Hurley???

I'll miss Jerry -- I thought he was the perfect host for this show.

The commute was probably a rough one for Regis, who does his show in NYC -- however we can always hope.

I also think Richard Karn would be good -- I miss him on Family Feud.
