Every week, Hollywood's biggest stars are meeting in the hot spots of Beverly Hills, and Starpulse is there. The old joke is that every horror movie has infinite sequels, none more than Friday the 13th (there are 11 if you count Freddy vs. Jason!) Now the not-so-funny truth is that they're all being remade again.

After new versions of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween and next week's "Friday the 13th" ramped up, with a new Child's Play still in the works, it was only a matter of time before A Nightmare on Elm Street joined the club.

Brad Fuller, who produced the "Texas" and "Friday" reboots, is working on "Nightmare." He said the interest in the juicy Freddy Krueger role is so high that he's even getting calls from A-listers. Could Robert De Niro go method acting on your dreams?

"You talkin' to me?" Fuller joked. "I didn't say it because I'm happy that Robert De Niro wants to play Freddy Krueger. It's not that. I'm excited that there are actors of a great quality who are interested in stepping into those [shoes]."

Of course the actual auditions will be a secret until they announce the new Freddy. "Here's the crazy part. We are getting incoming calls for the first time in our career with actors of real caliber and quality who are pursuing that role, which is absolutely astonishing to us," Fuller explained.

Robert Englund originated the role of the child murderer burned to death by angry parents, haunting their children's dreams in eight films (again, including "Freddy Vs. Jason.")

Fuller's partner Andrew Form said they have Englund's blessing to cast a new Freddy. "He doesn't want to do it," Form said. "By the way, we'd love to have him be a part of the film but we know he doesn't [want to play him]. It's time for a new Freddy."

If he did, at least it would be a step up from Rocky & Bullwinkle.

Just another victim of this bad economy I guess.

Still, you'd think he'd still have the clout to demand better roles - or at least an agent who could help him get decent roles.

I would of thought on reputation alone he would be offered better roles.

The only person I can see playing Freddy would be Robert Knepper of Prison Break.

He has the same small/thin build as Englund, the unique voice that is essential for Freddy, he already played a child molestor on Prison Break, and he is very good at being a chameleon.

I think Knepper is the best choice to be the new Freddy.
