Ridley Scott loves it when a plan comes together
The plan to bring much loved '80s show The A-Team onto the big screen is back on.
Director John Singleton left the project last year after attempting to remake the show for a whole new generation - and it looked like The A-Team were retiring for good.
However, Twentieth Century Fox have hired heavyweight filmmakers Tony and Ridley Scott to produce the new adaptation, while Smoking Aces' Joe Carnahan will direct.
And the director insists he will do everything he can to retain the breezy tone of the series.
He said, "You can make a film that reflects on the real world without losing the great sense of fun and the velocity of action in a classic summer popcorn film.
"This was a coveted property, and re-imagining a show that I remembered as a kid was tough to turn down. Fox hired me to make it as emotional, real and accessible as possible without cheesing it up."
The plot will mirror the original series - four war veterans, convicted of a crime they didn't commit, escape from military prison and become mercenaries. Good ones!
However, they will now become Gulf war veterans rather than Vietnam.
How long before Carnahan's Smoking Aces actor Ryan Reynolds gets linked to the Face Templeton Peck part? Perfect casting?
