What Is Your Take On The "SAW" Series?

The film SAW, I think, is one of the best horror films ever made. It was a unique and different concept filmed on a shoestring budget that worked.

When it got around to SAW II, III, IV, and V I felt that "ok, joke's over". They are doing the same exact formula in all of the sequels.

They are under contract to make 6 films so a SAW VI will definitely be out Oct 2009. It is unknown what will happen after that.

Are you a SAW fan?

I feel the same way about them. The first one was definately different and original in concept. 2, and 3 were more of the same, but I liked IV. I enjoyed the prequel and liked knowing how Jigsaw came to be. #5 I haven't seen yet and look forward to renting it.

I like the series a lot. It is different type of villain and storylines. Part IV was my least favorite.

At this point, I'm very curious what SAW VI will be like. This is the supposed last one of the series. They are under contract for six films so depending on this one's success and what the studio decides this could be the end of SAW if they decide not to renew it.

I have heard many rumors that Cary Elwes is going to come back to reprise Dr. Gordon and to answer all of the series loose ends. It sounds more like fans talking about what they would like to happen but we'll see soon.

I'm also very curious to see how the video game will be.

I have a hard time watching them because of the gore, but my husband loves the series. I spend half the movie hiding behind a sofa toss pillow, lol.

I've never even seen one of them, and never plan on it. Just not my type of movie. There's enough gore on the 5:00 news, I don't need it in my movies too.

I loved the first two, liked the third, and haven't seen four or five. The concept of the movie was quite original, and took horror to a different level. Though, for me, it really started losing steam in the third movie. Now it's the same thing over and over. I don't really know what else they can do with the franchise at this point. Not to mention all those other straight-to-DVD Saw rip-offs that keep being made. I don't really get the point of those.

I agree it started to lose steam in the third one. I thought the fourth one was bad. The fifth one was actually ok. I really hope the sixth is the last one. I haven't seen any Saw rip-offs yet.

I still love the classics like The Exorcist, The Shining, Jaws, Carrie, Rosemary's Baby and those type of horror films, but I just don't have any real interest in seeing the new horror films. The only recent horror film I saw was William Friedkin's Bug with Ashley Judd, which is really very good, but that is a film from a veteran filmmaker and not a movie from one of the new generation of moviemakers.

If I were you I would at least give the first one a look and then you can judge for yourself.

I still think that the first one is still the best out of all of them so far.

The only bad thing about it is that over-time I get the feeling that everyone knows the plot twist so I don't know if you are "familiar" with the storyline at all. If you're not then that is a good thing so you go totally into the original not knowing any facts.

There's a good chance you would like Saw. I don't know about the sequels, though. I have to say, though, that I hated Bug. :lol: I was bored out of my mind.
