Welcome to "Cougar Town."

ABC has greenlighted a single-camera comedy pilot from "Scrubs" creator Bill Lawrence to star "Friends" alumna Courteney Cox.

Produced by ABC Studios and penned by Lawrence and "Scrubs" writer Kevin Biegel, "Cougar Town" centers on an attractive, newly single 40-year-old mom (Cox) with a 17-year-old son.

"Forty-year-old women on TV are so beautiful and perfect and wrinkle-free," said Lawrence, who first worked with Cox when he was a writer on "Friends." "People don't do the reality of it, and there is a real comedy area about a woman who is talking about Botox, about having sex with the lights on and how her body is changing."

Lawrence and Biegel had the idea for the show for a while, and Lawrence felt that Cox, whom he describes as "comedically fearless," would be perfect for the lead. After the actress guest-starred on the opening three episodes of the upcoming season of "Scrubs," he approached her.

Cox said she has been "a huge fan of Bill Lawrence and his comedic sensibilities" since "Friends" and that "after having such a great time with him on 'Scrubs,' it felt like the perfect fit."

Lawrence drew some of the inspiration for the show from his fortysomething wife, actress Christa Miller, who has been recurring on "Scrubs" and also might appear on "Cougar Town."

Lawrence and Cox, who both have deals at ABC Studios, will exec produce the pilot through their companies Doozer and Coquette, respectively. Production is slated to begin in early January for a possible midseason launch.

Lawrence is wrapping postproduction on the eighth season -- and first on ABC -- of "Scrubs," whose finale will mark the departure of star Zach Braff. Lawrence also is expected to relinquish day-to-day responsibilities on the show but will continue to be involved if ABC opts to extend the show's run.

In addition to "Cougar Time," Lawrence is shepherding "Beautiful People," a drama project for ABC/ABC Studios with writer Michael McDonald.

Cox recently starred on and exec produced the FX drama "Dirt," which was produced by ABC Studios.

Being that I have already posted this double-meaning joke just about everywhere else, I would like to jump at the opportunity to tell you guys about it! Let us start by talking about what the starter of this post said about forty-something women on TV. I would like to start by saying that Courteney Cox is a hot one! However, ever since pre-addolecence I have fallen hard for a lot of older women in the media. I would say that my favorite is Hazel Shermet. She has made two guest appearances on "Facts of Life" and three of "Gimme a Break!" By the way, these were two of my favorite shows growing up! In any case, she was already sixty when I first saw her and I thought that she was quite a babe then! I recently saw an interview with her that was conducted when she was eighty and I still thought that she was nothing to sneeze at! For those of you who are interested, that interview is still up on "You Tube". I especially enjoyed hearing her talk about a time when she was wearing pantyhose! Two other older women who I have fallen for are Blythe Danner and Christine Baranski. By the way, if any of you have seen the "Mamma Mia!" movie I would be very interested in your views on that. In any case, I would like to conclude by writing about one more older babe who I have been hot for! This actress is Cynthia Harris. For those of you who do not know, she played Paul's mother from "Mad About You". I recently saw an episode in which she was in designer jeans and her back was to the audience. It was a very enjoyable experience! By the way, I have had a crush on Helen Hunt for the longest time! She is only six years my senior, but that is besides the point. I also like the lady who played Jamie's friend Fran on that show. Now I have finely come to where the double-meaning comes in! I think that the babes who played Jamie and Fran are really hot stuff and the ladies who played Lisa and Sylvia are not far behind. Having said this, I would like to give the word "behind" a double meaning after seeing Sylvia in jeans and drooling all the way!

The starter of this thread made reference to how good Courteney looks in her years past forty. Well, I will have to agree that she is a hot one! However, in my one and only response to this thread, I compared her to other babes who I thought look great in their years past forty, fifty or even sixty! However, for some reason there does not seem to be too much interest in responding to these threads. Over on the "Gimme a Break!" page of this site, I started a thread titled "Sylvia's Butt". The Sylvia that I was referring to is Paul's mother from "Mad About You". My innitial reason for this post was to compare Cynthia Harris (Sylvia) to other older women in general and Hazel Shermet in particular. I would say that, out of all of the older women that I have ever drooled over, Hazel is my favorite. In any event, people on the "Gimme a Break!" page responded to this thread for a while, but than the novelty wore off. I have since brought this post back to the top of the page and it is still sitting there. The fact that I made this comparison on that page is because, during her sixties, Hazel made three guest appearances as three different characters on "Gimme a Break!" She has also made two guest appearances on the "Facts of life". Posts that I have made on this page include, "Unpopular", "Big Hair", and "My Friend Larry". Larry, by the way is her late husband. Before signing off, I would like to tell you about one more such thread that I recently brought to the top of the page. This thread is on the "Will and Grace" page and it is called "Ellen's Bosoms". The fact that I am telling you guys about all of these posts on these other pages is because, all of the sereis that I have mentioned are shows that, like "Friends" were popular with the Generatrion X crowd.

I am bringing this thread to the top of the page, because of something that I read over on the page of "Three's Company". It seems that the appearance of Suzanne Somers is the talk of the town! There are all sorts of posts about botox and plastic surgery. Now one thing that you have to understand is that Suzanne is over a decade older than Courteney Cox. In any event, in addition to responding to the "Three's Company" post itself, I have also brought up a bunch of old threads on other pages that deal with similar topics. These pages include, Will and Grace, Mad About You and Gimme a Break! In closing, I would just like to offer you guys one more fact regarding my opinion of older ladies. My all-time favorite is Hazel Shermet!

She's more like 2 decades older than Cox which puts her out of the "Cougar" category even......more like in the Wooly Mammoth category - ancient history and nobody really wants to date her anymore other than Alan Hammel! ;)

Let's please keep on topic. :)

In between the time that I last posted on this page and the present, I did the research. Suzanne Somers is eighteen years older than Courteney Cox Arquette.

I am responding to this thread again for two essential reasons. The first is to welcome aboard the last poster to this wonderful site! You will have a lot of fun! On top of this, in previous responses, I have compared our friend Courteney to other babes who look good for their age. For a while, it was the talk of the town on the "Three's Company" page! However, there did not seem to be too much interest in comparing and contrasting the ladies that I brough up. Just in case anyone is interested, my most recent post on this topic is on the "Brady Bunch" page of this site. It is called "Hazel and Christine". I would be very interested in what any of you guys think of it!

One thing that seems to go in spurts is the discussion of the attractiveness of older woman. One thing that has revitalized some interest in this topic is the fact that Florance Henderson (Carol Brady) has recently tunred seventy-five years old. On a thread on the "Brady Bunch" page of this site, several people including myself have posted messages about how good she looks for a woman her age. Well, shortly before she turned seventy-five, this show's very own Jennifer Aniston turned forty. I just raised to the top of this page a thread regarding this fact. In any attempt to stimulate some conversation on the topic, I have decided to bring up this one as well!

I've seen the previews on TV and they look interesting. I honestly probably won't watch, just because I don't watch many prime time shows at all.

I'm no huge fan of Cox, I just plan to watch because the storyline seems interesting. The blonde who plays her friend was on Dawson's Creek by the way & one of the friends on the movie White Chicks.

I hope it's good because hardly any 30 min sitcoms are to me these days.
