Western fans, what did you think of the 1993 Kurt Russel flick Tombstone compared to the 1994 Kevin Costner flick Wyatt Earp?

Have you seen both movies? Is one better than the other?

I saw both of them. I think most people liked Tombstone over Wyatt Earp. But I like both. I have both dvd's. I think Dennis Quaid did a excellent job protraying Doc. But I love Val Kilmer's line, "I'm your huckleberry".

I have been defending Wyatt Earp for years; a much better film than Tombstone.

Sure. Wyatt Earp is a bit long at times, but it's a great biopic about the man's life, as opposed to Tombstone, which focuses on the events leading up to the O.K. Corral shootout.

Plus, as ponytail pointed out, Denis Quaid's Doc Holiday was fantastic. The guy lost like 40 pounds to play the part! He looks like he's about to keel over any second!

Why he wasn't nominated for an Oscar I'll never know.

Both are excellent movies, but I always liked Tombstone better.
