What are the most over-the-top, scenery-chewing performances that you
can think of? My list would have to include ...

Bette Midler, as Winifred Sanderson ("Hocus Pocus")
Jack Nicholson, as The Joker ("Batman" (1989))
Glenn Close, as Cruella De Vil ("101 Dalmatians" (1996))
Jim Carrey, as The Riddler ("Batman Forever")
William Shatner, as Captain James T. Kirk ("Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan")
Faye Dunaway, as Selena ("Supergirl")
Christopher Lloyd, as Judge Doom ("Who Framed Roger Rabbit")

Speaking of Nicholson and Dunaway, I would have to add their respective performances in The Shining and Mommie Dearest. Oy!!

Well, he was much better than Carrey as The Riddler. I'll give him that. Oh,
and speaking of Jim Carrey, I forgot to include his role as The Grinch. Ouch!

speaking of Batman... how about the entire cast of Batman And Robin. Arnold's career was damaged so much he went into politics, Chris O'Donnell and Alicia Silverstone's "rising star" statuses were pretty much destroyed and it took Uma several years to recover as well. George Clooney was about the only one involved who didn't suffer some sort of career radiation poisoning as a result.
