What was your favorite movie about a musician fiction or non-fiction.

I love "Walk the Line" the Johnny Cash & June Carter story.

I loved Ray, but Walk The Line is my favorite biopic of a musician as well.

My favorites would be Walk the Line and La Bamba

But as for fictional musicians I'm going to go with "That Thing You Do". I hope it's okay to use a musical group for this thread! The movie didn't get great reviews but I absolutely loved it! Tom Hanks did an amazing job, considering that no one in that film was really a musician!

That was excellent. Also I'd offer up The Rose and Purple Rain when talking "fictional" musicians (granted, Bette and Prince are singers in their own right but neither were playing themselves)

I suppose you young whippersnappers never heard of "Your Cheatin' Heart" The Hank Williams Story starring George Hamilton (1964)

Totally agree!!!! There's have been many biopics made about musicians but this one just holds the record for me. I got the DVD almost 20 years after the movie came out originally in theatres and it STILL holds up. The production, the acting. And that fantastic soundtrack!

*two thumbs up*

I have the autographs of both the real Donna and the screen Donna (Danielle Von Zerneck). Cool, huh?? I liked the film so much I went out and bought one of Ritchie Valens' CDs.

I forgot to mention "Sweet Dreams" as well, although it's not a great movie, it's still interesting. I love Patsy Cline.
