There is no father/son bonding activity quite like being busted together for methamphetamine.

Ryan O'Neal and son Redmond were booked on suspicion of narcotics possession this morning.

Authorities said they were doing a probation search at the family's Malibu home when they found Redmond O'Neal in possession of methamphetamine and a vial of the drug was allegedly found in Ryan's bedroom.

The father/son are being held on $10,000 bail.

ohno: Don't forget that Joanna Moore, Tatum and Griffin's mother, had substance issues as well and never got over them (she passed in 1997). I feel just horrible for Farrah. Hasn't she been through enough already, with her cancer coming back??? How could they put her through this?? My heart just goes out to her.

Ryan O'Neill is one of the celebs on the list of "I should have never had a child." Him, Joan Crawford, Bing Crosby, and Judy Garland should have thought about battling their own deamons before raising children who grow up to have deamons similar to their own. Poor children.

It was Griffin who had those busted out teeth after a fight with his father, Ryan. I remember that picture was everywhere years ago. He also had a boating accident that killed Francis Ford Copolla's son. With all due respect to Farrah, she went through a wild time after the breakup with Ryan, with some guy she hooked up with. She and Ryan had a very tumultuous relationship too.

Ryan O’Neal, son, busted in Malibu

Hollywood hothead Ryan O’Neal and his son, Redmond, were busted for methamphetamine possession by the cops yesterday morning at the actor’s Malibu home during a routine check associated with Redmond’s probation.

The meth bust comes just three months after Ryan’s older Oscar-winning daughter, Tatum, was arrested for trying to score crack near her New York City digs.

“This morning, deputies were doing a routine sweep to make sure Redmond was adhering to his probation,” Los Angeles County Sheriff Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said yesterday. “Upon searching the premises, the younger O’Neal was found in possession of narcotics. Later, a vial of drugs were found in the elder O’Neal’s bedroom. We believe the drugs found were methamphetamines.”

Redmond is on probation for three years after pleading guilty to drug possession charges back in June.

Neither father, 67, nor son, 23, appeared under the influence at the time of their arrest, the sheriff’s spokesman said. They were released after posting $10,000 bail each.

Redmond, whose mom is actress Farrah Fawcett, 61, pleaded guilty in June to two felony counts of possession of heroin and crystal meth. And then there was the one misdeameanor count of DUI stemming from an arrest in January.

If he’s found in violation of his probation, he could see some serious prison time, according to E! News.

Ryan O’Neal, who was nominated for an Oscar for “Love Story” in 1970 and has recently starred in the TV show “Bones,” was arrested last year on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm after firing a gunshot during an argument with another son, Griffin.

The actor told authorities that Griffin, 43, picked up a fireplace poker and started swinging it. Griffin grazed him four or five times and “aimed at my head, I ducked, he hit his own girlfriend in the head,” Ryan O’Neal said at the time.

The actor said he fired a warning shot intended to scare his son.

The altercation started because Redmond had been tethered to the staircase allegedly by his older half-brother, who didn’t want him to go out and buy drugs. Charges were never filed.
