10 Worst Seinfeld Episodes?

I disagree with #4, #7, and #10. But that's OK! It seems like everyone's favorites and least favorites are all different. :lol:

Thanks for that! For a minute there I thought you were asking us to pick the ten worst episodes! That would have been impossible! Whomever made that list is insane! How can they say that The Big Salad" was one of the worst?! That was hysterical! That has my favorite part about Jerry finding out that his girlfriend dated Newman and George saying "You had to pick the BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGG salad!"

I liked the Parking Garage and the Chinese Restaurant ones too, but the Parking Garage one I prefer more. In all honesty, any episode that only has one central location for most of the show gets a little tiring-but you gotta admit it's unique!

I can't believe they didn't list the "Backwards" one. The others I haven't seen in a while, so I can't comment on those. One that I really didn't like that much was "The Nose Job", though. That would be in my top ten worst-but then again, I hate using the word "worst".

My least favorites were any episode focusing on Susan, the envelopes and her death (and its aftermath). Susan is one of my least favorite TV characters ever, and even after she was killed off, she was still the focal point. AAARRGGGH!!!! :mad: :lol:

My least favorites are Kramer in LA, the one where George and Jerry are mistaken for someone else in the limo, the wedding in India and the last episode.

Some of the very earliest eps I don't care for. They were very stilted and awkward, and really not all that funny. Thankfully, they found their groove before too long. :D

All of your suggestions are good (well, bad...:p :joke: :lol:). I liked the last episode, but it wasn't how I would have chosen the series to end. But then again, I didn't want it to end at all, so what do I know? ;)

I would never be able to name 10 bad episodes, not even one bad episode of Seinfeld. That show was brilliant, pure comedy genius, and they never made a bad episode.

My favorite line of that episode is right after that, when Jerry tells the operator - "Someone gave me a wise answer!" Since then, I've used "wise" in the same vein. I actually complained in a restaurant that - "Some old lady made a wise remark, as she passed our table." (Long and irrelevant story). But, another small Seinfeld-ism has made it into my vocabulary.

Back on topic...I don't think there are any "bad" episodes. Some are better than others, but they're all classic. That's probably a big reason why the show does so well in syndication. I can watch a ton of episodes without getting tired of it.

Yeah, I don't think there are any bad episodes either. Even if a show isn't as good as others, I still manage to find something funny in each one. Even the backwards episode. You have to admit, that was pretty unique!

And then, after Jerry hangs up the phone, he tells George "yeah, they're gonna send a squad car right over" and a police car pulls up to the curb before the words are even out of Jerry's mouth.

I don't know if this is true, but I read that Larry David was getting tired of doing Seinfeld and really wanted out, and having Susan die came from his "dark side". Apparently Jerry didn't have a dark side, but Larry did.

Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld could be compared to John Lennon and Paul McCartney (Larry would be John). As the main songwriters with the Beatles, Lennon/McCartney were an unstoppable force, writing most of the Beatles' songs. Paul's sensibilities were "pop", giving many of the songs their singalong quality, while John's sensibilities were more "rock" oriented and darker. And it is widely considered that John Lennon was the true genius of the two----the most talented, but also the most misunderstood of the Beatles.

Larry David wrote most of the episodes during Seinfeld's first few seasons, then later on was less involved. But his influence as producer was very much felt until he left the show after its seventh season. The last 2 seasons without Larry David feel to me "different", somewhat sillier at times and less brilliant (but still very good, don't get me wrong).

Larry David is a comedy genius. The show would never have been as successful or as great if he hadn't been involved in its creation. Many of the characters are based on people that he's known in real life (like Kramer), many of the situations were actually inspired by events that happened to him in real life, and the character of George is even based on himself. No offense to Jerry, but Larry is the greater genius of the two.

No offense to Jerry, but Larry is the greater genius of the two.
Well, Jerry always said he wasn't a writer or an actor... But I thought he did a pretty good job keeping Seinfeld on top after Larry left. That book I was referring to started to sound a little "tabloid-ish" in all honesty. Even some of the things that were mentioned about certain episodes I knew were wrong. Like it was mentioned that in the 100th episode, Jerry and George are sitting in Monk's Diner, reminiscing. However, I distinctly remember Jerry addressing the camera and George yelling from the hallway that they needed to go because they were going to the movies or something. But I could be wrong about that.

I didn't realize it at the time, but according to IMDB, "The backwards episode "The Betrayal" is based on a Harold Pinter play, "Betrayal", which also uses the same gimmick. Sue-Ellen Mishkie's fiancée in the episode is named Pinter in tribute to the playwright."

That episode was certainly unique in TV history!

btw, Schmoopie, did you know that the girl who played "Schmoopie" in The Soup Nazi episode (Alexandra Wentworth) is married to ABC's George Stephanopoulos? I remember when Stephanopoulos got married (back around 2001), there was a fairly big to-do about it, but I never made the connection on who his wife was. They have two daughters.

I didn't really like the 2 about Jerry getting the Cadillac for his dad and the ensuing condo eviction. It seems like it would have been too easy to prove dad wasn't embezzling and therefore less funny.

I'm also not fond of the 2 part one with the selling of the raincoats/trip to Paris.

That being said, I never change the channel, even when one of those four episodes comes on. They still have their funny moments, even if it's not so great on the whole.
