In America in the 90's, my local PBS used to show comedies like "Keeping Up Appearances" and "Are You Being Served" in the evenings. Once they ran a show that I thought was great, but I cannot remember the name of it.

Please help me find it because I want to watch it again.

A guy named Gavin somehow talked his way into a job at a small local newspaper and he has a romantic interest with a girl that works there. I think he even lives in the same house as her.

Anyway, Gavin is a genius liar. At the beginning of every episode, he tells an outrageous lie and everybody falls for it, but by the end of the show, the craziest set of circumstances undo his lie. This show was hysterical, but I'm not sure it is the same show as the one called "Extra Extra Read all about it"

If it is the same as that show, it must have been produced at 2 different seasons by different writers and casts, because everybody hated that show.

Does anyone know the name of the good show I am talking about?

Sounds like Gavin and Stacey.

I looked at the cast for that show, and I've never seen those actors. Also, it seems to be 2007-2008 and the show I'm talking about was seen in the late 1990's. "Gavin and Stacey" is making it hard for me to find the show I want because it is high the search results.

Actually, I think the show I want was before everybody had internet. It maybe never had a web page. I'd estimate it came out immediately before Keeping Up Appearances and perhaps was dropped because the Bucket Woman was a better. Hard to tell because both hit America about the same time. My show might even be aussie or irish.

The theme song was "Extra, extra! read all about it" and I heard about an irish show by that name, but everything I read says everybody hated it. I don't care. If this is the show I like, I still want to get it because I was a fan before they took it off for the Bucket Woman.
