I need help remembering!

Someone please help!!!

There was a sitcom in the mid to late 80’s and I can’t remember the name of it.

For some reason I’m thinking that it was either Dean Cain or Jason Bateman that stared in it as a kid but I’m not sure. The basic story line was that there was a scientist that lived or worked in a basement and he was a friend / neighbor of this kid. This scientist built a big laser gun thing and one day it went off and hit this neighbor kid (either Dean Cain or Jason Bateman) and the kid got super powers from it. He could fly, run like the flash, and was invincible. He then started fighting crime and the show kind of took off from there. I remember it being on right around the same time as that show “Out Of This World”, you know with Evie Garland the girl whose dad was an alien and she had some weird powers too.

If anyone has any idea of what show I’m talking about, please hit me up. I have been trying to figure this out for ever and no one seems to know what show I’m talking about.
