Hi All!

Just wondering what everybody's favorite Christmas episodes are! I would have to say that Home Improvement are probably my favorite, but I would like to know what others think so I can check them out too!

Thanks so much!:)

The "Partridge Family" episode where their bus breaks down in an old ghost town and they are stranded. An old prospector tells them the story of the town's christmas bell. Later the bus gets fixed and they make it home in time for christmas. After celebrating christmas they get back on the bus and go back to the ghost town and ring the christmas bell. the old prospector steps out of his shack to see who's ringing the bell he is greeted by the Partridge Family(and Rueben) singing "Have yourself a merry little christmas".

Bewitched Christmas show from the 1st season, A Vision Of Sugar Plumbs. Very touching episode where Sam has to teach an orphan the meaning of Christmas. It shows us what great parents Sam and Darrin would make.

How the Flintstones Saved Christmas- Loved it you could feel the warmth of the episode and know Christmas was coming. Fred working an extra job to earn money for presents and subs for the real Santa.

In general I love watching all the christmas episodes from old showsl, it doesn't feel like the holidays are approaching without them. It's a tradition to watch them, I never get tired of watching them.

My very favourite is Guess Who's Coming to Christmas - Happy Days (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=12). For straight LOL comedy nothing beats the Married with Children (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=84) episodes. On the dark side, 70s crime dramas How Cruel the Frost, How Bright the Stars - Kojak (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=575) and Little Girl Lost - Starsky & Hutch (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=556).

There were good Christmas episodes in Home Improvement with the lights contest, Family Matters, Full House (when they get trapped in the airport), Wonder Years episode mentioned above was very good. As well, Saved by the Bell episode with the homeless man in the mall.

Not tv here but Home Alone movies at Christmas time are the best! Also, the Christmas Carol (Charles Dickens) cartoon they air as well is very fun to watch every year.

Was it in that Happy Days episode where there is this very funny scene of Joanie scaring Richie from behind the couch or something like that?

Thanks, you are probably right. I only saw that episode once about 5 years ago so I couldn't exactly remember. All I remember was me and my cousin were laughing so hard from it and vaguely remembering something like that.

"PETTICOAT JUNCTION" only had one Xmas episode-the 1966 one was a remake of the first one (from 1963).

Full House (when they get trapped in the airport)

I love that one! There is another one that aired later on. I don't remember the title, but Stephanie and Michelle start getting greedy and forget the meaning of Christmas, so Uncle Jessie gives them a special gift; a trip to a homeless shelter. That was a really nice episode.

There was an episode of Knotts Landing that I watched years and years ago (in the summer, actually) that was really nice. The only thing I remember about it was everyone standing in the cul de sac singing Christmas carols. After it was over, I dug out my Christmas tapes and started listening to them!

Ugh! It's hard to think about :cc: :tree: :rednose: :santa: :snowman: :stocking: and :santa2: when today is my :birthday: and after that we still have pumpkin: and :turkey: to get through!

Good idea for bumping up the thread for a little TV "Christmas In July", maybe we should bump it up in december as well.......I remembered to add to my list with the official release of "The Lucy Show" season one....the christmas and new years episodes are also favorites....Lucy only did one other christmas themed episode during "The Lucy Show" run called
"Lucy & The Choir" which brought back the character of her son who had been shipped to military school by that point, always a great way to get rid of the children, yet we never got closure or even a hint of what happened to the lovely Chris (Candy Moore)....In episode one of the series Lucy goes all out worrying about chris going out on a date and by season 4 she must have run away and was never seen or talked about again, not even on a milk carton!.....Funny she still is missing from the special features on season 1, an interview would have been nice like jimmy garrett did.....aaahhh the wonderful world of sitcoms and missing children.

I think "Alf" must have had the best Christmas special ever. And I also have to mention the Christmas episode on "Kenan & Kel", where Kenan spends all his money, so he could buy a mountain bike, to give Christmas presents to a poor family. But my other favorite shows, like "Family Matters" and "Step by step", usually had good Christmas episodes too. But for some unexplained reason, "The Cosby show" never had a Christmas episode.

Some of mine...

"Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire" (The Simpsons)- What was supposed to be a half-hour special for a sketch from the Tracey Ullman show turned into the longest-running sitcom on TV. I like all the Simpsons Christmas episodes, but this one is my favorite.

"Xmas Story" (Futurama)- Santa is now a robot who murders everyone he considers naughty. Unfortunately, that's everybody.

"Dear Dad" (MASH)- The 4077th celebrates Christmas with lots of laughs and tears while Hawkeye writes a letter home.

"Xmas Story" (NewsRadio)- Bill thinks Santa wants to kill him. What horrible thing did Bill do that year to deserve that?

"Insanity Claus" (Wings)- What's more dangerous to eat: Fay's lemon bars or Bob's jelly donut?

"A Full House for Christmas" (Taxi)- Big poker game in the garage.

"My Own Personal Jesus" (Scrubs)- JD and Co. have to work Christmas Eve.

"Hindsight" (ER)- I loved the whole backwards episode idea.

I have so many of them on DVD that I set aside a few hours a day to watch them and have my own Merrython.

I like all of the Christmas episodes from Mash, Full House, and Bewitched.

I also like the Christmas episodes from Happy Days, but I still haven't seen the ones from seasons 8 and 10 as of yet.

Also, I like the Christmas episodes from Three's Company, Golden Girls, Brady Bunch, Dukes of Hazzard, Monkees. (Have all these on DVD).

My favorites:

All in the Family - "The Draft Dodger" (the ending especially was fantastic.)
Brady Bunch - "The Voice Of Christmas"
Three's Company - The one Christmas episode they did. Loved the ironic twist at the end with both the roommates and the Ropers unknowingly getting invited to the same party.
Dukes of Hazzard - The one in season 3 with Bo and Luke being set up by Boss involving stolen money. All this, yet they all enjoy Christmas Eve together at the end.
Happy Days - Fonzie spends Christmas with the Cunninghams, not being able to keep the secret that he is alone for the holidays. As an aside, I saw a version of this recently where at the beginning, Fonzie reminiscing with Al about this event, even alluding to the fact that Chuck was home. This clip had to be in at least season 4 or 5 after Chuck was long gone and forgotten. Wonder where this came from?

This was called a "recut" episode. Instead of making a new Christmas episode for the next season, they just added a new opening scene onto the previous season's show. They did this in '75, where Fonzie says "last year..."; and in '76, where he says "two years ago...". In '77 they repeated the episode yet again but kept the "two years ago" opening.
