DAVID Duchovny's sudden stint in rehab for sex addiction will not effect the new season of his Showtime series, "Californication."

All 12 episodes for the second season of "Californication," scheduled to debut on Sept. 28, have already been filmed, a Showtime spokeswoman said. Plans for a third season "have yet to be decided," she said.

On the cable show he stars as a novelist who suffers from a sex addiction - among other problems.

In a strange twist, Fox Mulder, the iconic FBI agent he played on "The X-Files" had an affinity for porn.

"I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction," Duchovny said in a statement. "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."
