Katy Perry Ties Beatles Record

Pop star Katy Perry has tied with The Beatles for the longest-running number one song on the rock charts. The 23-year-old's smash song "I Kissed A Girl" led Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart for its seventh week on Thursday.

The chart-topper is now tied with The Beatles to become the longest-running number one in the rock era for her Capitol Records label.

The Fab Four ruled for seven weeks in 1964 with their hit "I Want to Hold Your Hand."

Funny similarities with 44 years in between....The Beatles held onto the record for 44 years with the innocent "I want to hold your hand", 44 years later a woman singing "I Kissed A Girl" ties the record....the title could be just as innocent as "I want to hold your hand", infact a great followup and logically what happens after you hold her hand, you kiss her...if it were sung by males. But of course we know it isn't...lol.....of course the big difference is she will be a one hit wonder!
