This is another "Crossover Battle" between Welcome Back Kotter and Head of the Class. Here's a little background on each show for you:
SWEATHOGS: Inner city kids in a remeidial learning class are taught more than just their lessons by Abe Kotter, a teacher who grew up in the same neighborhood and promised to come back some day and make a difference.
FILLMOORE HIGH HONOR STUDENTS: "The Smart Kids" of Fillmoore High, given special priveleges by the principal because of their accedemic achievements which bring honor and prestige to their school. Substitute teacher Charlie Moore tries to show these kids that there's more to life than just facts and figures, and helps them to prepare for "real life".
With all that said, the scenario is rather simple; a television quiz show that pits students from one school against students from another school for a chance at fabulous prizes offers $100,000 to any school that can beat the current champions (who just so happen to be the Fillmoore High Honors Students). Mr. Kotter hwears of the challenge, and enters the sweathogs into the drawing as a joke. But things backfire when they find out that the sweathogs are the only people who where foolhardy enough to enter the competition! And to make matters worse, the application that Mr. Kotter filled out to enter the sweathogs also had a legal disclaimer on it stating that any school that backed out of their television appearance would owe $50,000 as a penalty! Forced in to going on the quiz show, the sweathogs spend the next week studying like mad, 24 hours a day!
Meanwhile, Charlie Moore is trying to convince his students that the quiz show is no big thing, and they should all just go to the big school dance that is also taking place the same night as the quiz show. Most of the students would like to go, but the principal tells them that anyone who does not show up for the quiz show will be expelled!
So there is the situation... both groups are forced to compete... the determined underdogs versus the uninterested champions. Who will reign supreme? How will this very special crossover episode end? And most importantly, which characters will learn a very valuable lesson?
