Long time UM fan just jumping in here. Has there ever been any connection put together that may link Ray as the adbuctor and probable killer of Tara Calico? Browsing these boards awhile ago someone mentioned that Ray had a truck similar to the one that was seen following Tara the day she went missing Is that fact or just a guess? Did he start killing by 1988? Also, he lived in NM, not far from where she went missing.

Wasn't that the guy with the rape/torture trailer that would dump his victims right there in the lake right next to his home in Truth or Consequences?

Yep. But I didn't know about the Lake right near the house though. That's interesting too.

Yeah, I was reading some book about that case and that was where he dumped some of the bodies in Elephant Butte Lake right next to where he lived. The guy had all of the tools he needed to commit his rape/tortures, then he'd kill them, bundle them up, load them into his boat, and dump them in the lake weighted down. I think the police found several bodies at the bottom of it. It sounds like a horror film plot.

What's really scary is he had a female accomplice and a few survivors who didn't tell on him.

Yeah. they didn't come forward until after the first woman escaped and went to authorities.
So noone knows anything about if he was ever a suspect in that abduction?
Any updates on if they have any new leads after all these years in the Calico abduction?

Not sure about an official suspect, but I've read a book on Ray that pointed to him as a suspect

Was this the case where a picture of the victim bound up was found in a parking lot?

Yes, and how does the little boy fit in? Tara Calico was abducted alone, and was David Parker Ray ever known to abduct boys?

yeah I agree. It doesn't fit his modus operandi.
I'm not totally sold that its her in the picture. But I definitely believe there's more likelihood of it being her in that picture, than those photos purported to be Johnny Gosch are of him. I bring up the Gosch photos though because its seems to be oh so terribly difficult to make identifications like this. People thought it was Kerri Lynn Nixon in that NKOTB video for example.
Btw, apparently there have been 3 photos found over the years that are supposed to be Tara Calico. I have seen the first two but has anyone ever seen the third which is widely believed to be a hoax and I think was taken on a passenger train?

Woah. I've only seen that one pic with Tara and an unidentified boy (the one that was broadcasted on UM).
Where did you see the second one?

ok supersally. Im glad you called me out on this one. I did a little digging and found the other photo I saw was a cropped version of the first one in black and white. I haven't seen the photo in a while so perhaps I wasnt remembering it correctly.
After a little research I discovered that police have only released the first photo. The second photo they are apparently pretty sure is the same girl as the first photo and shows her on a blue fabric similar to that of the first. The validity of the third photo is apparently deemed dubious.
Anyway. I should have done a little research on my own in the first place. I ended up answering my own question. :)

No worries, joshypiano. I was not going to bite your head off or anything. The alleged second and third photos are like the holy grail on this message board. Everyone has heard of them but no one's seen them ... yet. Sorry to pounce on you like a cat ... :D Forgive my morbid curiosity, but the possibility of getting a glimpse of another picture related to the Calico case (one that still haunts me to this day) made me leap out of my chair.

I'm pretty sure the third photo is out there somewhere. DarkDante claims he saw it once on a website about Tara.
There are actually several photos, but most of them were hoaxes.

Well I wish they would release the second photo because (from what Ive read) they believe it to be the same girl as in the first photo. And if theres anyway to see if she really is Tara i would think they would want to release it to further strengthen the evidence.

David Parker Ray only abducted women. He wasn't interested in torturing boys or men, or even teenage girls as far as I know.
Also, I doubt David Parker Ray abducted Tara Calico. It is not part of his M.O., which involved bringing adult women inside his storage room converted into an insonorized playroom to torture them mentally and physically until disposal.
Ray was meticulous, but he wanted his hobby to remain secret. I doubt he would have left any picture behind him to be viewed by someone else than him or his accomplice.
Sadly, until Cynthia Hendy confesses whether or not they were involved we will never know. :(

For what it's worth someone on yahoo answers said in a reply to a question that the Sheriff in Valencia County Rene Rivera has said they know who the abductor is but cannot prosecute them until a body is found. Yeah i take it with a grain of salt since the source isn't verified, but it's still intesting nonetheless.
"Micheal Henley's remains were found in the Zuni Mountains in 1990, foul play isn't suspected so he's been ruled out of the Tara Calico disappearence. The new sheriff in valencia county, Rene Rivera, says that they know who the killer of Tara Calico is but until they find a body they will not be able to prosecute. Good luck, what's it been 20 years?

Can anyone confirm is this is true or not? This case has been puzzling for many years.
