View Full Version : Don't You Just LOVE IT when....
OH Nuts!

An ENTIRE series of a show you really like comes out! Or even better...you get it at a GREAT price.
This just happened to me with a show I've always REALLY ENJOYED - Little House On The Prairie (LHOP.) Everyplace I went in NYC the seasons were really expensive (at least $38). But I found the entire series on sale for $19 a season. So I decided...what the hel*...its an omen...so I took the plunge and am JUST HAVING A BALL. Which is EZ when you're a Michael Landon fan...and I love the "Oleson gals" (Harriet and Nelly) esp. when they're practicing to join a coven...LOL.
Don't know about you, but when I have to scrounge for eps of a series I REALLY LOVE - like The Adv. of O & H ...and know I only have 45% of the eps out there ...it can make me want to pull my hair out. Now...if The Twilight Zone would only come out as an entire series...I'd buy it in a nannosecond (provided it wasn't too steep in price).

They have the original Twilight Zone series on DVD in season sets as well as combined as a complete series set. They're very cool too.
To answer the question... YES! It's a great thrill for me when I get every season of a show on DVD. Especially for shows that aren't on television that much these days. I have all 143 episodes of "Saved by the Bell: The New Class." DVD is the only way I can watch that show.
I'm so glad Sony is finally releasing The Three Stooges in order. Because I was collecting all their DVDs with scattered shorts from the Stooges. I'd have to check off the ones I have. But getting them in order is so much better.
What's great is the rarety when a show comes out in a complete series set BEFORE it's released in season sets. Like "Get Smart." I was watching an episode of the DVD and then I thought to myself "I hope they release the rest of this series and not abandon it." Then I though "Oh wait, I HAVE the whole series!" I'm so use to watching a DVD and wondering in the back of my mind if this is all I'm going to get of the show or if the company will release all the seasons.

I was so darn lucky to have walked into BEST BUY one day and seen a table with several DVD's on there. One of them was the King of Queens entire series at 50% off. Heck yeah, I paid $100 and saved $100.

One week Best Buy had Seasons 1-4 of I Dream of Jeannie on sale for $14.99 a season. I'd put off buying that show cuz it wasn't one of those shows I had to have RIGHT NOW, but I couldn't beat that price, so I bought seasons 2-4.
Amazon recently had some seasons on sale, so I got to finally buy The Odd Couple, Without a Trace, Sabrina: TTW, and Wings. They were all $15.99 and under. Now if someone would just put Incredible Hulk Seasons 3-4 on sale, I'd be thrilled.
I love those good deals too, wish they came around more often.

The only good thing about Square Pegs being short-lived is that it all comes in one box set and isn't that expensive. Maybe $25-35.
Once I found Seinfeld seasons for like $20 a piece and I was so mad because I couldn't remember which seasons I already had at home, so I didn't want to buy duplicates!

That's how I am with "Frasier". I have seasons 1-4, 7, 9-11. I was at the store and saw season 8 but couldn't remember if I had it or not. So I passed on it. Obviously the shows not a huge favorite of mine, or I'd have bought the whole series, but I do plan on getting the remaining seasons.

^^^I have a solution to that issue. I have a list that I keep in my wallet so when I happen by chance to be at a store that sells DVD's or I see something I want on sale, I can refer to my list of the DVD's that I already have at home. I used to hate trying to remember, "Which seasons of _____do I have already?"
