By that I mean continue the show without it's leading actors and giving it a name change. With "The Andy Griffith Show", it continued as "Mayberry RFD" without Andy Griffith, Ron Howard and Aneta Corsuat.

The choices are:
"The Dick Van Dyke Show" changing it's name and continuing without Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore (and obviously Larry Mathews).

or

The Bob Newhart Show" changing it's name and continuing without Bob Newhart and Suzanne Pleshette.

Which show do you think would have a better chance of making at least two seasons?

I'd have to go with BNS. I think a Mr. Carlin show would've been hilarious - maybe he and Howard Borden could've become roommates!

Yea, Bill Daily easily could have starred in his own show.

Remember the sitcom he did with Connie Stevens and Nita Talbot in the '80s--something called like "Starting From Scratch"?

I agree 100%, Monika (gee, what a surprise! LOL). Almost any of Bob's patients could have carried their own show, I think. But Mr. Carlin would've been the best. Maybe he and Mr. Peterson could move in together, LOL!

I saw the backdoor pilot of Mayberry RFD on Andy Griffith and it did not make me want to watch.

I think Mr. Peterson did move into Mr. Carlin's in one episode (Mr. Peterson moved out after an argument with his wife). It was either season 5 or 6. Fox needs to put those last 2 seasons on DVD along with the final 3 of MTM!!

I would have enjoyed seeing a series based on the marriage between Sally and Herman - I also thought it would be a hilarious series especially if Herman's mother moved in.
