I agree, but I guess Nick at Nite doesn't want to move George Lopez from its golden 10pm slot.

Shouldn't the Family Matters marathon ratings be out by now? I'm not as familiar with cable ratings but it's been 3 days.
I wish N@N would air four different episodes on Saturdays rather than repeat the same two again two hours later. Though I'm just happy to get back-to-back episodes on weekends. Hope it comes to weeknights soon.

I only recieve the primetime top 10 in 18-49 for cable daily. And for Sunday and Monday, there were no Nick at Nite shows in the top 10 in 18-49. But that doesn't mean anything. Some days when George Lopez does a 0.7 18-49 rating it could be in the top 10 and some days it can do even better and not make the top 10 because of many other cable shows doing well that evening.
I should have Tuesday's top 10 primetime 18-49 shortly.

Solid start I think. It's no George Lopez yet though. The 9pm numbers for the marathon are concering as a 0.3 18-49 rating is low for Nick at Nite. However, it built nicely after that. Hopefully it does something similar or better in regular airings. I have a feeling 8:30pm won't work, but 11pm will.

Seriously, they should sandwich Family Matters between G.LO and the Fresh Prince for Higher ratings...during the late hours where they repeat, they should sandwich FM between HI and G.LO.
9pm - George Lopez
10 - Family Matters
11 - The Fresh Prince
12 - Home Improvement
1 - Family Matters
2 - George Lopez
3 - The Fresh Prince
4 - Roseanne
5 - The Cosby Show

Glad George Lopez is doing so well!!! That gives them less of a chance of yanking it off the air, right?
Pavan
07-03-2008, 12:43 AM
George Lopez is going no where. It is their #1 rated show. Usually gets 2-3 million on average, some episodes have gone over 3 million even. Looking at the Family Matters marathon, it must have averaged a bit under 2 million, but that is not bad. If it were under 1 million or a bit over, then they would have yanked it. I will wait and see how Family Matters is doing at 8:30pm before I make any predictions, but I have no doubt 11pm is doing well, especially since it is after George. I think George will be staying 10-11 and 1-2am for the considerable future, as those slots are the best slots.

Family Matters is doing well! 4-5am hour will be repeats of 8:30pm and 11pm. See first post for updated full schedule.

I'm so glad to hear it's doing well. Looking at the marathon ratings, looks like it did good household numbers, which is a good sign. The 12/34 demographic is good, too - looks like the show is attracting a lot of kids. It is weird though how much the numbers jumped up from the 9pm hour - that is such a bad slot for any show on NAN.
My guess is Family Matters will either take over the 11:30 slot, too, with maybe Fresh Prince moving to midnight. Let's hope it can grow even more.
Pavan

Here are the first two night numbers. No 8:30pm numbers, but I bet they are low, as Home Improvement 9-10pm are not listed here! Family Matters is doing very well, #1 rated show on Monday for Nick at Nite in households, although George Lopez 10:30pm is not on that list, and I'm thinking that might have been #1. Maybe Marc Berman forgot to copy that one.

Wow, I can't believe Family Matters actually beat George Lopez in households - I would consider that a huge hit. Wonder how that transfers into total viewers, if Family Matters still came out on top.
It went down a bit though on Tuesday, wonder how it did yesterday. Besides that, I can definitely see Family Matters expanding in primetime real soon, possibly even in the 9pm hour.

WOW, those are great numbers. Thanks for posting. It's doing really well. :D
I also think 8:30 is not doing well, it's just such a weird slot for the show. I hope an 11:30 airing comes soon.

For Monday, George Lopez 10:30pm is not on that list, and I'm thinking that might have been #1. Maybe Marc Berman forgot to copy that one since it was probably the top one. Home Improvement 9-10pm is no where to be found on this list, so it probably didn't do well. HI 12-1am is nothing great either, though 18-49 is still good. Since GLo 10pm is listed and it did a 1.8 rating...maybe it also did a 1.8 or 1.9 or even 2.0 at 10:30.
Anyhow, 1.9 rating for Family Matters on Monday puts it like 2.1 million or a bit more.

Based on the #s, N@N should do this, IMO:
Mondays-Thursdays
8:30PM Give it back to Nickelodeon
9-10PM Home Improvement
10-11PM George Lopez
11PM-12AM Family Matters
12-1AM Fresh Prince
1-2AM George Lopez
2-3AM Fresh Prince
3-4AM Home Improvement
4-5AM Family Matters
5-6AM Roseanne/Full House/Cosby Show

I agree Nick43, but just swap Fresh and Home in the late night. Or they can just keep an addition Family Matters at 8:30. Why not, lol?

I'm hoping an 11:30 airing comes soon - it just seems more appropriate to have an hour each of FM and FP from 11pm-1am.
2.1 million viewers for Family Matters is great - I'm curious Pavan, how does that compare to the Lopez and HI premieres?

I'm not sure what they did when they premiered. Both built on very well in weeks after. FM is lucky to be sandwiched between GLo and FP.

Why Briennas? Ratings are great. No need to mess with success. Home and George haven't even been on a year, so they are pretty new. I liked their strategy with Family Matters...starting it slow and placing it between two high rated shows (George and Fresh) and it worked. Now they can expand it.

Heckles101, I think Nick at Nite has learned to go with family shows that have worked in syndication. Step by Step or something would be perfect next. Newer shows like 8 Simple Rules and Hope & Faith would be also good, maybe weekends after Nickelodeon.

I'd love 8 Simple Rules. That's a show I could see at 8:30 since it only ran 3 seasons! I'd also love Reba, Boy Meets World and Blossom but we all know BMW is without a distributor and thats why its not on in syndication anymore

Here are the 8:30PM ratings for Family Matters for its first two nights. Wednesday finals and on are not available yet. It seems Family Matters is not doing that great at 8:30 (teen and kids audience must be good), but still beats CW and MNT. Home Improvement 9-10pm is probably doing similar or slightly better. Nick at Nite really takes off at 10pm when George comes.

It doesn't help that 8:30 was a repeat last week too, hopefully it'll do better this week or else I hope we see an 11:30 airing added by fall.
But yeah, it is a very weird and awful timeslot.

Aren't all the 8:30 airings repeats of the episodes that aired at 11pm the night before? At least I thought they were.
I'd even like to see FM at 9pm in the fall - 9pm in the fall is much better than 9pm in the summer, even though the show would probably do better at 11pm, sandwiched inbetween Lopez and Fresh Prince. Another 11:30 airing would be fine, though.

Finally! I knew it would be soon that we'd get that extra 11:30 airing, but I didn't think it would be this soon. Nonetheless, I am thrilled that Fresh Prince is out of primetime for good.
The only thing I don't like is not having FM in latenight anymore. I was looking forward to that. And, once again we get 3 nonstop hours of Fresh Prince - why couldn't they give an hour to Family Matters?
Pavan
07-10-2008, 06:06 PM
They should have kept 4-5am Family Matters, but it probably didn't do too well I guess. It must be doing extremely well at 11pm since it is getting an 11:30pm slot. I'm surprised they didn't give Fresh Prince 12-1am and slide Home's second hour to 2-3am. My bet is that only airing of Cosby Show on Sundays 1-2am will be turning into Family Matters soon...I don't think they are allowed to encore George on weekends for some reason.
Anyway, keep checking http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showpost.php?p=3948053&postcount=31 for upcoming FM episodes. I am updating it daily with these changes.

They have such weird contracts-LOL. Do you have any ratings info for Family Matters at 11pm? Now that they have the 11:30 airing, they should get rid of the 8:30 airing. If it's doing as badly as it sounds, what's the point?
Pavan
07-10-2008, 06:17 PM
8:30pm airings are not doing "badly"...but from the great N@N ratings of 10pm and on it doesn't look as good. 8:30pm is still doing 1.5-1.8 million, which is still good...better than MNT and The CW.
What do you mean weird contracts? The only restrictions they have is not airing Fresh Prince on weekends and George Lopez can only air 2 episodes a night since it is being shared with locals for its first season. Also, I am guessing they can't encore the two George episodes on weekends.
Don't have any ratings past what I posted previously for Nick at Nite, but since FM is getting 11:30, 11pm must be doing extremely well and 8:30pm is still solid.
JulieSomoski
07-10-2008, 06:22 PM
So they're not doing as badly as I thought at 8:30, but it's obviously doing great at 11pm if it's taking Fresh Prince's slot. Usually it's Fresh Prince replacing a show, not the other way around.
I just meant NAN has all these shared contracts and such that they're restricted to air shows (like you mentioned) in certain slots. I can understand George Lopez's, since it's airing in locals as well - do you know when that contract ends, when NAN will be able to air the show whenever?
Pavan
07-10-2008, 06:26 PM
I'm guessing next fall or the following fall, George will be able to air more than 2 episodes a night. Locals will still have it, but they probably wouldn't have restrictions since it is not a first year show.

Yeah, I always forget to watch the 8:30 airing - I'm either watching something else or doing something. ANd 3 hours of Fresh Prince is bad, just like old times I guess. Here's something I'd do for now:

12:00 Fresh Prince
1:00 George Lopez
2:00 Home Improvement
3:00 Family Matters

Julie, I think it is a blessing that Fresh Prince is not in the 9pm-1am slots anymore. I could care less if it airs 2-5am lol. Not awake then. Anyway, I would do this:
Mon-Thurs
8:30 Family Matters
9:00 Home Improvement
10:00 George Lopez
11:00 Family Matters
12:00 Fresh Prince
1:00 George Lopez
2:00 Home Improvement
3:00 Fresh Prince
4:00 Family Matters
5:00 Roseanne
6:00 Full House (half-hour)
Fri
10:00 George Lopez
11:00 Family Matters
12:00 Fresh Prince
1:00 George Lopez
2:00 Home Improvement
3:00 Fresh Prince
4:00 Family Matters
5:00 Roseanne
Sat
10:00 George Lopez
11:00 Family Matters
12:00 Home Improvement
1:00 Home Improvement
2:00 Family Matters
3:00 Family Matters
4:00 Roseanne
5:00 Roseanne
Sun
9:00 Home Improvement
10:00 George Lopez
11:00 Family Matters
12:00 Home Improvement
1:00 Family Matters
2:00 Family Matters
3:00 Roseanne
4:00 Roseanne
5:00 Full House
Using their formula of no Fresh Prince Sat-Sun and no George repeats on Sat-Sun. Because of that they really need another show on weekends. I would pick-up weekend rights of 8 Simple Rules and Hope & Faith and air them after Nickelodeon. If they did that:
Sat
10:00 8 Simple Rules
11:00 George Lopez
12:00 Family Matters
1:00 Home Improvement
2:00 8 Simple Rules
3:00 Family Matters
4:00 Family Matters
5:00 Roseanne
Sun
9:00 Hope & Faith
10:00 George Lopez
11:00 Family Matters
12:00 Home Improvement
1:00 Family Matters
2:00 Hope & Faith
3:00 Home Improvement
4:00 Roseanne
5:00 Full House
Either of those would be good at 8:30pm on Mon-Thurs as well, if they hit after Nickelodeon on weekends. Or they can go after Step by Step, that would work well 9-10pm a bit better than Home I think.

let's see, Nick at Nite has three quality shows (Murphy Brown, Mad About You, Growing Pains) they treat like dirt that could easily air on weekends.

Why is N@N airing the SAME episode they aired at 11 last night right now???

Idiots! They just wasted an airplay on this since it has been over 24 hours. Had this episode aired say 10:30pm tonight, it would have counted as a repeat.

It's stupid and it annoys me more because they are skipping an episode and still doing this.
and Nick's website had it correct, I thought it was a mistake.

Got the 8:30PM numbers. So far, we have gotten every 8:30PM rating. Unfortunately no 11PM numbers besides the ones I posted before, but it is doing very well anyway.

I guess since Fresh Prince is gone from primetime AND weekends, they want to air as much as possible in latenight. And Pavan, I love your idea of adding a weekend show. 8 Simple Rules would be great - it would fit right in with their other shows, especially George Lopez. Even Hope and Faith would be a great pickup - that was another sitcom shafted by ABC.

I turned on to NAN at 11pm last night and saw the same episode on as last night - granted, it's a great episode, but did they really have to do that? Seems like its getting really confusing with all these different airings and which episodes are airing where - I really have to check out the episode listings on the FM board.
And those ratings at 8:30 aren't bad - god, this show is already hugely successful on Nick at Nite.

I recorded the 4:30 episode out of curiosity and the episode that was supposed to air at 11 did air then. It's also scheduled to air at 5:30am tonight and tomorrow at Midnight(which I guess means it gets wasted airplays also).

God, that is confusing. And I don't really get the point of airing 1 episode so many times. Air it once, encore it, then move on

LOL!!! So, the episode aired 4:30am and will air again tonight at 5:30am. That is 2 airplays. Over 24 hours there. The midnight showing the following night is OK, since it is less than 24 hours from the last airing, no wasted play there. So 2 plays on that episode, too. Bad judgment by Nick at Nite on these two episodes.
They should have just aired the 11pm episode at 4:30am last night...

Well that's a good reason why I never saw the sh*T, it aired TOO EARLY and TOO LATE

I don't get Nick2. :( Oh well, it didn't bother me anyway(since there isn't much else on right now). I was able to watch at 8:30 but I'm glad it's going to be encores again next week.
