By Simon Reynolds, Entertainment Reporter

Angelina Jolie has revealed that she finds Disney films offensive because they lack cultural diversity.

The actress told OK! that she was reluctant to show her daughters movies from the animation giant because they don't feature African princesses.

She said: "[So] even the colour of the children in the cartoon matters. There still isn't a Disney princess that's African and it's very difficult because our daughters are getting into princesses right now and it upsets me."

Jolie and partner Brad Pitt are expecting twins later in the year. The couple have three adopted children - Maddox, Pax, and Zahara - and biological daughter Shiloh.

I love how these Hollywood stars treat their own opinions as if they were to be gospel. Well, if Angelina finds something wrong--OMG!!!!! what was Disney thinking?????

I'm not into Disney cartoons, but maybe Angelina has a point. She's the Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Refugee cause. She's donated a couple of million dollars of her own money to various causes worldwide. Here's her humanitarian credits, below. The "Humanitarian" section of her bio is amazing. She campaigns tirelessly for refugees and children. I disliked Angelina for the Brad thing, but they're a family now, and I told myself it was time to move on.

Back to her Disney complaint, I can't say, but something tells me Angelina can.

Let's see, there's Pocahontas, the Asian female lead in Mulan, Jasmine in 'Alladin', and Esmirelda in 'The Hunchback Of Notre Dame'. I imagine Angelina Jolie has not been watching too many Disney flicks for over the past fifteen years.

Disney To Introduce Its First Black Princess

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/sksloanski/Other%20SciFi%203/vert.jpg

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (AP (http://www.ap.org/)) — The Walt Disney Co. has started production on an animated musical fairy tale called “The Frog Princess,” which will be set in New Orleans and feature the Walt Disney Studio’s first black princess.

The company unveiled the plans at its annual shareholders’ meeting in New Orleans.

John Lasseter, chief creative officer for Disney and the Disney-owned unit Pixar Animation Studios, said the movie would return to the classic hand-drawn animation process, instead of using computer animation that has become the industry standard. He called the film “an American fairy tale.”

“The film’s New Orleans setting and strong princess character give the film lots of excitement and texture,” Walt Disney Studios Chairman Dick Cook said.

The movie will be scored by Randy Newman, who also wrote the music for Disney’s “Toy Story,” “A Bug’s Life,” “Toy Story 2,” “Monsters, Inc.” and “Cars.”

Newman performed a song from the score for the shareholders.

John Musker and Ron Clements, who co-directed “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” and “Hercules” will co-direct the movie. The pair also wrote the story for the film.

Disney said its new animated princess — Maddy — will be added to its collection of animated princesses used at the company’s theme parks and on consumer products.

The film is set for release in 2009.

^ Wow!

Angelina is good! She got Disney to instantly start production on the Disney animated flick she wanted to see!

They even got Randy Newman to crank out a song in two days!

Amazing.

Hey Angie, can you release a statement saying how sad you were when you heard "Back To You" was cancelled?

;)

Angelina had nothing to do with it, as that article is over a year old. Looks to me that she just didn't know about it. Personally, I think it's great that Disney is introducing an African Princess. Black Barbie has been around since the 60s.

Just from looking at the picture of the princess and seeing that the film is set in New Orleans has peaked my interest. I think it's great as well that the princess is black and doesn't look like all the others. It's about time! And she's beautiful just like the others, too!

Me thinks this movie won't make its 2009 release date:
