View Full Version : Does/Did anyone watch TV Land?

At one time TVL and Nic@Nite were such great networks to watch the old classic sitcoms on.
They went in a new direction and are getting rid of all those shows as the contracts expire.

I sure do miss seeing shows such as Hazel, Donna Reed, My Three Sons and so many more.

Anyway, They have a message board for request/comments and lots of forums for the old classics. I found it a long time ago after I contacted TVL about going back to some of the classics.
I was told if I didn't like the new shows maybe it wasn't the network for my family any longer. They made it clear that they had no intention of bringing back those shows.

So I made it a point to let people know on their message board. I didn't cuss or anything but they banned me. :(
I've never been banned from anything. :(
I just felt bad that people continued to beg for shows they didn't have a Prayer of seeing on TVL again. I feel like they are keeping them dangling to keep the posting up. :(
I got a message saying I was banned because I said I didn't watch TVL anymore and it wasn't my place to tell people that TVL wouldn't be bringing those shows back. They said I was trying to get people to stop posting.
I was honestly just trying to let people know the shows wouldn't be back.

TV Land sucks. You're better off without them. I wouldn't worry about getting banned from over there. They just aren't worth it.

yea, Patti B, I agree. Don't worry about being banned from the TV LAND boards. Like MANY, MANY, MANY people have said in this thread and other, TV LAND sucks!! They've "jumped the shark" so many times, it's not funny! (and I can't believe they're showing reruns of "EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION" when original episodes are still running on ABC)
And the latest is what they've done to the show endings-they shrink the credits down to the very bottom of the screen, speed them by like they're being shot from a gattling gun, and don't even show the closing any more!

TV Land is a waste of airspace. I gave up along time ago and N@N has been a lost cause for eons. I used to be such an avid viewer of both. Thank God for tv shows on dvd

The only thing I watch on TVLand these days is The Beverly Hillbillies because my mom likes to listen to them from her room. But she complains about how the episodes are "cut up" and the ending is cut off. All they ever advertise is their newest reality show, which at the moment is "She's Got The Look". It's really annoying at this point.

I tune in for the occasional "I Love Lucy," "The Beverly Hillbillies," or "Designing Women." Honestly, it's not uncommon for me to be channel surfing and stop on TVLand if they have something good on. That's usually in the middle of the night or in the morning (like now). But from about noon until midnight, I'm usually not watching. It's either movies, wall-to-wall "M*A*S*H," or some of their original ****.

What I hate is how they believe the audience is retarded. They advertsie "She's Got the Look" all throughout each program, yet they also have an advertisement that stays on the screen underneath the bug. We get the fricken idea! That crap is going to take over the network on June 4! We know!

Without a doubt this is one of my favorite websites. I never go to the TV Land's web site anymore. Since they dropped almost every show that I enjoyed there's just no reason to.
That network isn't aimed at me anymore. I can't stand all the reality tv they now air. :(

If TVland banned you, you are better off without them. The Good Times board was filled with racist and nasty remarks abt the show so why would you want to be part of a board that would allow stupid people to make such callous and hate-filled remarks? TVland has their priorities screwed up anyways. They need to change their name to REALITYLAND.

Box Sets were blocks based on certain themes (spin-offs, common gueust stars, similar plots, etc) and some times featured shows that weren't on the regular schedule, including many short-lived shows like "Finder of Lost Loves," "Gloria," "Bridget Loves Bernie," and "She's the Sheriff." Also, when the first TVLand Awards aired in 2003, the Box Sets were used to showcase the shows/people that got major honors, like "Julia" and "Star Trek." Sunday Best showcased the very best episodes of certain shows.

JT, I LOVE that old lineup!!!!!!!!!!!:D

I guess I never understood why they changed.
I would think they'd lean towards the old saying, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Oh well, they made it clear those days are over. I just wish more of the old shows were on DVD! :(

No telling what they'll put on in the place of Lucy the end of this year. More reality I bet.

I feel certain the few remaining classics will vanish too.

BTW, thanks for the welcome! Ya'll are so nice!

I enjoyed it too!

I don't think they'll ever completely get rid of the classic stuff. I think they realize what their image and reputation is, so they keep it up a little (that's why we still see Lucy, the Hillbillies, Beaver, "Designing Women," and others a good bit still), but in their hearts, I'm sure they're wanting like hell to drop it all and become VH1 or something.

And BTW, welcome to the boards. We're a rowdy little bunch, but we have fun lol

I remember begging, pleading, doing everything I could to get our cable company TWC to add TV Land back in 1999-2000 when it WAS a classic TV channel. Now, all I watch on "Crap Land" is shows like "Leave it to Beaver." It's president, Larry W. Jones, has no regard for classic TV, or its place in history for what was once a landmark channel. His moronic decision to turn TV Land into another idiotic, teeny-booper, super station, (small print intentional) saddens many of TV Lands former viewers, who have turned away in droves. Brilliant thinking there, Mr. Jones.

As stated above, TV Land should change it name to Reality TV Land, because 80% or more of the shows content can be found on other networks, which is so tragic for the classic TV viewer.

Hope is not lost however as ME TV out of Chicago and in some other outlets ME TV 2 has been showing up on more and more cable/dish systems. You can get ME TV OTA in some markets as well. These stations only show classic TV shows, no credit crunches or half-screens, and Classic TV commercials as well. We have ME-TV in Milwaukee, and the responses have been overwhelmingly positive, so much so, that there are petitions to bring this station to more cable and dish outlets.

Here is their main website out of Chicago. With a station like this, who needs Reality Land anymore:

The thing about Larry Jones, though, is that he's been involved with TVLand for a long, long time, and he was there when it was still proud of and embraced its classic TV reputation. I'm sure he's changed his tune in order to keep his job, and I wonder if he's really happy to see the channel change its ways so drastically.
