Fox just gave the low-rated comedy Til Death a stay of execution, but the sitcom starring Brad Garrett will undergo some major changes when it returns for its third season this fall. A source close to the show confirms to EW.com that Fox has apparently abandoned Death's original premise — newlyweds' move in next door to a grumpy, long-married couple — by dropping the young characters of Jeff and Steph Woodcock (Kat Foster and Eddie Kaye Thomas) and making way for a new story line involving Kenny Westchester (Curb Your Enthusiasm's JB Smoove). Westchester was introduced earlier this year as a "Little Brother" to Eddie (Garrett) in the Big Brothers charity organization, despite the fact that Kenny is in his late 30s.

I'm not surprised they decided to drop the other couple - in the few episdes i have seen this season, it seemed like they were featured less and less.
But bringing in a new character and shifting the focus of the show?
Sounds like a jump the shark moment to me.

After reading this news, I decided to see what the people at imdb had to say. They don't even know about this yet, however many people over there hate the Kenny character and hope he's not back in season three. Most of the fans of the show love it for having the two married couples, and hated Kenny coming in and taking screen time away from the Woodcocks. So I'd hate to be over there when they get the news that Kenny's in and Jeff and Steph are out.
I hadn't seen season two (I'm waiting for the DVD), so I didn't know who Kenny was, or didn't remember him if he appeared in season one. Now that I know who he is, I like him. He was great in the 6th season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm." Of course this is not "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and his character here may suck. But I'm still gonna watch the show (each time a season comes to DVD, that is).
This may end up being the last season because of these changes, but then again, maybe FOX will go for four, to get it in syndication.

I will no longer have any interest in this show if this is true.

Not bothered by the loss of the Woodcocks. They were funny but it's always been about the Starks. No problem with Kenny becoming a regular, JB Smoove is funny and like Brad Garrett with him. Watched instead of taped epis when he joined.

BAD IDEA.
I just recently got into the show and the Woodcocks to me are part of what the show was about. Changing the premise is def. a jump the shark move. I've been liking Kenny but I can take just so much of him! They'll def. need to 'revamp' his character a little, lol! I hope we at least see the Woodcocks get a proper goodbye.

I loved this show...until they introduced the new character. Once I saw that they were dumping the neighbors, I took my season pass off the DVR. They lost me. So sad that they can't just leave things alone. If the execs running things these days were around for Cheers or Seinfeld, it would never have made it past the first season!

LOVED Brad Garrett in Everybody loves Raymond. I watched Til Death for quite a while hoping it would get better, it didn't. Maybe I expected too much from it because Brad Garrett was in it.
