Dimension plans 'Short Circuit' remake

Dimension Films has confirmed it is planning to remake 1986 family movie Short Circuit.

The company has acquired the rights to the military robot story and hired original writers S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock to work on the script.

Short Circuit followed the tale of a robot called Number 5 that gains a personality after being struck by lightning. Steve Guttenberg and Ally Sheedy were among the cast.

The film spawned one sequel in 1998 that featured the robot dealing with life in the city.

David Foster and John Hyde will produce the movie. Foster told Variety the third big screen outing for the robot would retain similar themes to the original, but would contain updated technology.

Another remake?! The minute they remake "The Breakfast Club", "Splendor in the Grass", or turn "The Facts of Life" into a movie, i'm done with Hollywood.

^ Oh, I gaurantee they are working on a Breakfast Club remake as we speak.

Will Zac Efrron play the jock, or the burnout?

;)

I think you are right, I can just see the cast now...

Zac Efron as the jock
Lindsay Lohan or Vanessa Hudgens or Ashley Tisdale as the princess

Somehow, they would try to fit one of the Olsen twins, Corbin Bleu, Hilary Duff, or Jamie Lynn Spears into this movie.

How much do you want to bet that a "Jem and the Holograms" movie starring either Paris Hilton or the much "anticpated" comeback of Britney Spears would somehow make it to theaters?
