I just so happened to catch a few minutes of the start of the show (because my aunt wasn't home) and David and Kristy Lee where up when my aunt walked in and told me to turn it. I turned it back during commericals (spelling?) and Kristy was performing. So just to be safe I dialed 03 and prayed it was right and it was. I voted like a kazillion times: from the time I could get a signal until the time they closed the phone lines.

GUYS I'M ABOUT TO MAKE A LONG, SERIOUS, OVER-DRAMATIC AND REFLECTIVE POST.

Well, after 3 amazing performances from Davey and an awesome finale, the confetti has probably all been swept up and the signing of the top 2 to record deals will surely soon follow. Idol has ended, and David Archuleta's career has just begun. <3 It's been a fun season with ups and downs, and it's fair share of emotionally TRYING moments, but in the end, I think Idol has served it's purpose for me.. I found an amazing, amazing singer and person in David Archuleta, who will always have a special place in my heart for the way he has touched me through his music and his heart. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a380/DorkyW00tage/andreabliss.gif It's probably been 5 years since I felt such an emotional attachment to a contestant on this show as a person. So needless to say, I really thought I'd be devastated if he didn't win, if only for a few hours. But the past 24 hours hasn't been sad, even though I knew he would come in 2nd. Because deep down, I know he's so much more than any title from a reality show could ever describe. He's a winner in a much deeper sense and that's something we all could see the past 2 nights. And in the end, that's what matters most. I'm just so proud of him after tonight and this entire season. I've taken a walk down memory lane, listening to old performances and thinking back to the first impressions I had of him.. he wasn't even my original #1 favorite, but after top 12 came there was really no competition left in my eyes. It was all about him. I don't think there's been a season so far where my focus was so entirely on just one contestant. :lol: ANYHOW, I just figured now would be a great time to make this post because IDOL is over. :grady: Soon the tour will be here, and his album, etc.. so lots of greatness to come. I'm optimistic about his future, and he's the type of guy who probably wouldn't even care if he didn't sell millions of records, he just wants to touch the people who really truly care about his music, not all the screaming fangirls who think he's the second coming of Zac Efron. I know some people here are really down and upset he didn't win, but you know, you shouldn't be, because he isn't. In every post-show interview he seems happy and relieved it's all over and now he gets to go out their and make music without the judges' comments and the people getting booted out every week. Out of all the auditions and eliminations, he got 2nd place.. but he's #1 in my heart. :heart: And if he's not #1 in yours, then guess what? It wasnt horrific, but it was weird, it was almost like someone went up to the original singer of the song ( not Archuleta) and told them it woul;d be in a Disney movie and they didnt use it LOL

I would like to hear him take a stab at "Unchained Melody". It's a beautiful song but no one can sing it. But I bet Archuleta could.

yeah "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me" and "Stand By Me" are my favorite two performances from him. and he sang "You're the Voice" well, it wasn't TERRIBLE...the song was just so weird :lol: and i like the studio version of We Can Work it Out, so when i think of that performances now i think of the studio.

yeah we've come a long way since that dark night in May last year, lol....

i was pretty devastated but now i see that was silly cause more greatness has happened in the past year for him than i could have ever imagined when he was on Idol. he's been such a role model and inspiraiton in my life and im extremely lucky that hes been a part of it. :mrtarver: hes had a great year and ive had a great year following him....and i know there will be many more of those to come. :woohoo:
