It seems, watching the blooper reels and unscripted game shows, that whenever an actor or more usually actress or female celebrity really screws up their lines or says something unexpectedly outrageous, they're fairly likely to act embarrassed and say, "Mother, I'm sorry". I think I remember hearing somewhere that Lucille Ball said that once during a particularly troublesome filming of "I Love Lucy".

So is the line in fact a tribute to her?
