March 7, 2008 -- Maybe this time, it'll be a show about something.

Jerry Seinfeld is in talks with NBC for a new series, PageSix.com reports.

The show, which aims to premiere in June, seems a lot like his '90s mega-hit "Seinfeld."

Once again, the comedian will be playing himself in an exaggerated reality, in a show set in New York, sources said. It's also described as being like "Seinfeld" co-creator Larry David's HBO series, "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

David is said to be the real-life inspiration for "Seinfeld's" George Costanza character.

The self-proclaimed "show about noting" ran on NBC from 1989 to 1998.

NEW YORK (AP) - Sorry, ''Seinfeld'' fans. NBC and Jerry Seinfeld shot down a New York Post report Friday that the comic was in talks with the network about a new sitcom. The report, citing no sources, said Seinfeld would play himself in a New York series similar to ''Curb Your Enthusiasm.''

''There's nothing to it,'' said NBC spokeswoman Rebecca Marks. Seinfeld's spokeswoman, Elizabeth Clark Zoia, also said the story was completely false.

''We appreciate the enthusiasm, however,'' she said.

I would not have believed this for a second. I saw Jerry on an interview a few years ago promoting the DVDs and he said he likes to focus on one thing at a time in his life. First he did the show and now he is a family man. I greatly respect that and I doubt he will ever go back to TV again because how can he top this show???

And that's exactly what Jerry said in an interview that I saw... "how could we ever top that?".

"Seinfeld" (and Seinfeld) brought together an exact combination of writers and actors at exactly the right time in order to produce what they did. They way sitcoms go now, we won't be seeing that again any time soon.

Exactly, he's been to the top of the mountain, there's nowhere else to go. And Seinfeld is still extremely popular, it's always going to be around.

I knew when I read this rumor that there'd be no truth to it.

This is a great post! Jerry seems to be doing very well, with the success of his stand-up tours and "Bee Movie".

If he were to ever make another sitcom everyone would just compare it to "Seinfeld" anyway and that could be very good.... or very bad....
