Rocker Ringo Starr is sick of the adulation he receives for being part of the The Beatles - because he wants to be known for his other musical achievements too.

The Photograph singer, 67, hates that he is constantly referred to as a member of the Fab Four, and wishes people would put less emphasis on his time in the legendary band and focus on his whole career as a drummer, singer and songwriter.

He says, "Some days I'm just fed up with The Beatles. I think that when I die, the message on my tombstone will be 'Ex-Beatle'. Like I've done nothing else."

doesn't he ever stop to think that part of the reason he's still around in 2008 is because he was a member of The Beatles? Paul McCartney has always embraced his Beatles past and knows that that played a big part in the reason why he's had such a fruitful career.

even tho he's by far the least successful solo Beatles, I do think you are downplaying his solo success a little too much. He did have two #1 singles and six or seven more top 10 singles, and several top 10 albums. He wasn't McCartney but it's hardly like his solo career has been a total disaster.

There aren't very many things in the world of music that will elevate you to God status with fans that span multiple generations.

Being able to say "I am a Beatle" is one of them.

You obviously didn't do your research, Ringo Starr hit the top 40 with several songs but I can think of only 2 that were covers. Only You and You're Sixteen.

Well, technically perhaps but, no one remembers #39 on the charts, you know what i'm saying? He may have had some other top 40 hits , but, if no one says "Yeah Ringo did that" then they are moot and dont really have any bearing on his career, as a whole (As far as his being "remembered for" goes)

Who said anything about #39? Like John said, Ringo had several top 10 hits and a couple of number ones but he did have some that barely made the top 40 and some that didn't make it at all but then again the same can probably be said for the other 3.

seven top ten singles, including two #1's in the US. That's very impressive. Granted, he has no "Imagine"'s or "My Sweet Lord"'s and he didn't have a prolific blockbuster solo career like Paul's, but for the "least talented member" of a band, seven solo top 10 hits is nothing to sneeze at.

I mean, come on, give Ringo some credit, he may have never made the impact the other three did as solo artists, but he definately had a few good years of hits there in the 70's.

You're not getting my point, other than musicalogists, most people might remember It Don't Come Easy & You're Sixteen, but, otherwise, people remember Ringo BECAUSE he was a Beatle, not in spite of it, NOT for any of those songs you just mentioned....So, Ringo better hope people remember the Beatles, or he will be forgotten.
