I can't believe this. Like all my friends don't know who this group is. I Have three CDs of them and I like them. It seems nobody knows who they are. Am I the only one out there who likes and knows about them?   I like older music (and some newer stuff) because my parents listen to the 60's, and 70's all the time. I like some new bands too, but I like more older bands than new.

well, I have encountered teens who don't even know who The Beatles are, a lot of teens and children haven't had good proper music education

To be fair, the only song by them ive heard is I Don't Like Mondays, and probably their only good one, and everyone is sick of Bob Geldof so yeah.

Dammit why do I come across as older when talking about music?

I Don't Like Monday's was their only big American hit I think, they were much bigger in the UK

I checked UKMix, they had another #1 there besides I Don't Like Mondays and a few other top 10 hits around 1978-1980. I guess their songs just didn't stand the test of time, much like there are other 70's/80's pop stars who were loaded with hits but only one or two songs are remembered now.

I do have an old recording of MTV from September 1982 with about four hours of videos and the "House On Fire" video is on there

I love the Boomtown Rats!

I thought that I was the only person in the universe (besides my sister) who knew who they were.

:D
Yeah, my younger sister and I have one of their CDs.

^6Lucky. I wonder what my dad will say when I "attempt" to buy one of their concerts.

He listened to "I Don't Like Mondays" when he was a kid, but I think that he thinks they are well...not so great. When my sister and I got their CD he was like "You don't want the Boomtown Rats! They were awful!"
