I agree about Malcolm vs. DS. I think Malcolm And Eddie gets preferential treatment since it's far more recent, and the fact that it starred a Cosby actor probably doesn't hurt it either. DS is seen as an old sitcom with a stigma attached to it, but if that's the case, why would BET even pick it up?

Exactly Dean, why even pick up DS if it's only going to be air ONCE a day which is when a lot of people are either sleep, at school, or at work-lol

Plus my concern is as well is that they won't air ALL the episode before it mysteriously vanishes from the scheduled

Well with 2 airings a day the whole series should be shown by the end of May. So let's keep our Fingers crossed, I won't start recording the eps until mid March

Even though I actually like Malcolm & Eddie (well I did originally, haven't seen most of the episodes in years so that opinion could change overtime), I do agree that it comes on too much. No show should come on more than twice a day regularly IMO and in the case of DS, it should be run all the way through at least once.

Yup, Amen is coming back and who cares about "Good News". They keep adding all these 90's UPN reject shows to their lineup, they need to learn from BET

I wish TV One would be a little less "this show has to be all black". There are a lot of great shows like Gimme A Break, The Jeffersons, etc... which had interracial casts that should be on TV One more than a lot of the UPN rejects. 227 and Good Times were the only shows they had that I liked, and 227's gone now

BET has previously aired "Roll Out" and "Baby I'm Back", but of course, they need to come back, because it has been a long time. I doubt we see any variety shows picked up because of music rights issues. But I do love the theme song to The New Bill Cosby Show ("Chump Change").

Yep BET aired Roll Out I think it was the late 80s (our cable system actually replaced by MTV with BET, because of some survey they claimed they took--uh,,,,,,,,yea, right) and around the same time, Baby I'm Back (which I felt had so much potential had CBS allowed it to grow).

Besides Eve, All of Us...TV One doesn't air any other UPN comedies. Unless you think All About the Andersons and Wanda at Large were from UPN, which they weren't...they aired on The WB and Fox. For Your Love and Parent'hood were WB. Good News just started. TV One has aired some other short lived series in the past, but mostly from the 90s. Remember they did a One in a Million for a few airings, don't know why they pulled it so fast, though.
BET airs Malcolm & Eddie, The Parkers, Girlfriends from UPN, so isn't that more than TV One?
TV One airs Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, which I loved. Roc is also good. I love Amen too. Good Times is one of their highest rated shows, as well as Martin. 227 needs to return.
TV One airs Boston Public and A Man Called Hawke, lots of white cast members there, but I think you have to have a black star since that is what TV One is about.
The Hughleys is coming in April.
I do agree they should air some short lived shows on weekends. Like Grady, Sanford Arms, Checking In...maybe some sort of rotator. The Jeffersons would be the best show to add on weekdays. Gimme a Break! aired once during a marathon, but it would certainly fit in their line-up as a regular.

Cos was more of a kid friendly variety show because it aired Sundays at 7pm eastern/6pm central and was opposite "60 Minutes" and "The Wonderful World of Disney". I think this explains why ABC did not leave it on the schedule too long.
I'm surprised The Redd Foxx Hour didn't do better since Redd was still a BIG star fresh from Sanford. I guess the timeslot was the primary reason--but not sure. I know I enjoyed it while it was on.

Since Diff'rent Strokes is now on BET, it doesn't need to be on ION. I have always wanted it to come to ION. I think this is what should happen to some shows that do not air currently:
ION:
Silver Spoons
Facts of Life
Perfect Strangers
Wonder Years
One Day at a Time
BET:
Webster (would fit with DS)
What's Happening Now!!
Sanford Arms (special marathon or once every Sanford episode airs)
Grady (same as above)
Baby I'm Back (Demond Wilson)
New Odd Couple
That's My Mama!
Singer & Sons (with Ann-Marie Johnson, fits with WHN)
Here and Now (would fit with Malcolm Jamal-Warner's M&E)
TV One:
The Jeffersons (yes, it is on TVL, but TV One almost airs stuff unedited and it would be better than TVL)
Gimme a Break!
Benson
Cosby (1996)
Checking In (air it in a special marathon or with The Jeffersons cycle during season 6)
What's Happening!!
227 (needs to return)
One in a Million (air it again with ALL episodes!)
Getting By
Sinbad
Rhythm & Blues (with Anna-Maria Horsford of Amen)

If they can't air Friends, I won't be surprised next if they'll probably pick up something else that has already more than enough exposure. I may not be a big fan of Baywatch, but at least that has not been seen in a while. Maybe daytime will be better if/when it happens.
Pavan
02-24-2008, 05:06 PM
Honestly, besides MASH, ION hasn't picked up anything overexposed. Boston Legal is brand new to syndication this fall, so that must be a good buy for them as they can market it as a syndication premiere (and they could establish itself as a major network). George Lopez was the same way on Nick at Nite, and that has really took off on the network. Baywatch, yes, that hasn't been overexposed in some years and Drew Carey was out of syndication when it came to ION.
I could care less what ION airs from 8-11p but when they start MASH and Boston Legal in the fall, they had better hope they expand in the daytime with a nice block by then.
