Nell Carter

Does anyone remember what the sitcom was that the stage name "Nell Carter" played in. She was a nanny and had somewhat of a singing career as well. She appeard on the Dolly Parton Variety hour I think around 1989. I can't for the life of me remember the sitcom. Want to find out if she made any music labels.
