Coast To Coast

Starring Chris Noth and Gail O'Grady as a newly-eloped bicoastal pair of rival public relations managers, Steve and Sharon (Manning) Breslin. Steve originally was born and raised in New York, but went off to pursue a PR career out in California after college, where he married his first wife (now ex-wife), Lydia Breslin (Wendie Malick), who turns out to be the mother of his two now-teenage children: Danica Breslin, 18 (Lyndsy Fonseca), and Logan Breslin, 17 (David Henrie). Steve and Lydia grew apart emotionally and later divorced yet remained civil with each other for the kids' sakes. Then, Steve had received the great opportunity to spend a six-month period working back in New York on a high-profile PR case. While out in working in New York and his kids back in California with his ex-wife, a newly divorced Steve had shared an initially love-hate relationship with a rival PR manager, Sharon Manning (O'Grady)-who was an also newly divorced, now single mom of one teenage daughter, Kellie Manning, 18 (Hayden Panettiere). After Steve's six month working period was shorting to come to an end, Steve and Sharon decided to do the unthinkable---and get married after sharing their newfound feelings for each other, and decide to elope the day before Steve has to go back to California. Now, a few months later, Sharon and Steve has told their children, ex-spouses, family, and friends about their bicoastal (almost secret) marriage, which leads to Steve, along with Danica and Logan, moving permanently to New York to move in with his new wife (their stepmom) and his new stepdaughter (their stepsister), and Sharon accepts a job offer at Debbie's PR firm, which is owned and ran by Sharon (and now Steve)'s man-hungry yet successful boss, Cindy Harris (Sharon Lawrence), who happens to be Sharon's college and adulthood best friend. Cindy is a widowed single mom of a handsome college-aged son, Nate Harris (Jake McDorman), who's dad was a proud NYPD police officer who was trapped and killed in 9/11. In the form of coping with the loss of her beloved husband, she has transformed herself in a cold, ruthless, and man-hungry lush who falls for men half her age. With the Breslins and the Mannings now under one roof and officially a family, everything isn't all peachy and lovey-dovey--well it is between the newlyweds, but not so much with their three kids. Also to make matters worse from time to time, Sharon's unfaithful ex-husband and Kellie's selfish father, Eric Manning (John Stamos) lives and works in New York also, and pops in and out of their lives every once in a while. Eric and Sharon divorced when she learned that Eric had been cheating on her with the married mother of Kellie's best friend-who now disowned Kellie as her friend, due to Kellie's dad breaking up the marriage of her parents--which caused Kellie to be resentful of her dad and his selfish ways. Watch how the Manning-Breslin family manages with moving in together and now having to act like a real family and still handle the trials and tribulations of everyday life.

Then shows Sharon and a reluctant Kellie preparing their house for Steve, Danica, and Logan, who packing up and heading their way to New York. But not after Lydia gives her blessing for her ex to take her two kids across country, but Steve promises that anytime she wants the kids to fly back home for a visit, or for her to be flown to NY for a visit, that Steve will pay for everything anything which pleases Lydia. Steve introduces Sharon and Kellie to Danica and Logan, and vice versa.

Ep2: Time To Adjust:
Sharon decides to throw a small dinner party to introduce her new husband and stepchildren to her (now their) friends and confidentes, including Cindy and Nate Harris. Danica and Logan realize how much they miss their friends back in California, but are forced by Steve, Sharon, and Cindy to go hangout with Kellie and Nate at a friend's party uptown. Nate and Kellie decide to give Danica and Logan the tour of New York, some simple "dos" and "donts", and highlights and downsides of living in New York. Meanwhile back at the party, Sharon becomes thrilled that Steve is hitting it off with her friends and co-workers.

Ep3: New Beginnings:
Danica and Logan begin their first day at their new high school (same as Kellie's). Kellie takes them under wing and introduces them to her friends, until Kellie oversees Danica being hit on by the guy she has a crush on for years-which causes Kellie to become a bit jealous and mean-spirited, as she starts a short-lived, false rumor about Danica being Kellie's new pregnant stepsister from California. Logan learns of the rumor and stands up for Danica and together they learn that Kellie was behind it all along, which doesn't settle too well with the Breslin siblings. Elsewhere, Steve begins his first day at the PR firm, where Cindy and Sharon waste no time and call upon his expertise within first hour of getting settled into his new office. Lastly, at home after witnessing her new stepsister breaking down in tears in their shared bedroom privately, Kellie comes clean, calls her friend and dismisses the false rumor, and then apologizes from her heart to Danica and Logan, who at first don't believe her until she opens up emotionally and she too breaks down in tears about her past (sharing story of her dad costing her her friendship with her former best friend)--which makes the two Breslins feel for Kellie, and the trio call it truce and attempt to make a fresh new start with each other.

Ep4: New Friends (and Enemies):
After having to give an impromptu speech in front of his speech class, Logan wins the friendship of two fellow classmates of his, Anna (Emma Roberts) and Ally (Jamie Lynn Spears). Anna and Ally invite Logan to join them at their lunch table, causing jealousy among the other guys in the 11th grade. Elsewhere, Cindy introduces her new younger, hunky boyfriend, Angelo (Wilmer Valderama) to Nate, Steve, and Sharon. Sharon and Steve are okay with Cindy dating Angelo after seeing how happy she is, however, Nate is repulsed and anything but pleased with his mom dating a guy a few years older than him, whom he fears will just end up hurting Cindy in the end.

Ep5: Why Can't I Be Happy?:
Cindy becomes upset with Nate when she realizes he doesn't like his mom dating Angelo and his remarks about her new beau. Cindy becomes devastated when Nate makes her choose between him or Angelo, which she refuses to do, causing Nate to be even more upset. Ep6: From Bars To Bars:
While out drinking with his buddies, Nate oversees Angelo and Cindy on the other side of the bar, publicly making out--which turns his stomach and makes an already drunk Nate do something not so smart. Nate walks over and picks a fight with Angelo, while Cindy tries to break it apart, along with Nate's buddies. But the cops get called and both Nate and Angelo are carted off to police station for disorderly conduct. But before Cindy makes bail for Nate, she has a deep and tough love talk with him through the bars, which makes Nate announce he doesn't want his mom's bail and refuses to leave. Cindy and the police officers are confused, but Nate stands his ground and refuses to talk to Cindy, but uses his phone call to call his longtime good friend--Kellie, who rushes down there to share a heart-to-heart with Nate, before making bail (secretly, with Cindy's bail money, without Nate's knowledge). Elsewhere, Steve applauds his son's newfound friendship with two of the prettiest girls in school, where Sharon and Danica think Steve is being a "pig".

But before Kellie heads out with her friends, Sharon has a surprise for her daughter--a surprise visit from Sharon's widowered dad, Grandpa John (Tom Skerrit) who wants to take his only granddaughter out to lunch with him. Later on while out clubbing at one of the hottest clubs in NYC, Kellie and her friends have a blast. Then back at the hotel, while hanging out in the hot tub, Ally tells Danica, Becky, and Kellie about her feelings for Nate, but Kellie warns Ally that Nate doesn't date his friends, she knows from experience.

Ep9: Deadlines and De-veining:
Cindy, Sharon, and Steve spend the weekend working in order to meet a last-minute deadline first thing Monday morning, which raises stress levels and the amount of tension between the three. Meanwhile, Logan, Anna, and Ally are stuck having to help de-vein shrimp in order to get some volunteer hours, so they can go on the 11th grade trip. Elsewhere, Kellie warns Nate about Ally's feelings for him, who shrugs it off as just a crush--which makes Kellie upset, since when they were in high school and she had a crush on him, Nate refused to let Kellie continue having feelings for him (in fear of someday ruining their close friendship).

Ep10: Devastating Disasters:
Steve recieves an upsetting call from his ex, Lydia (back in California), who wants Danica, Logan, and himself to return to California that coming weekend as she has important, urgent news for them. Weekend comes and the Breslin trio flies back to California and meets with Lydia. Shortly after the greetings are shared, Lydia sits the three down and informs them of her devastating news, that she has seen a doctor and has now learned she has breast cancer. As Steve remains strong and supportive for his ex-wife and his children, Danica immediately breaks down crying and Logan tries his best to hold his composure but eventually lets his wall down. Lydia wants Steve and the kids to go with her to her next doctor appointment, where Steve immediately doesn't like the doctor and his shortness with Lydia. Lastly, Steve shocks Lydia and the kids, when he announces he has talked it over with Sharon, and they want Lydia to come back with them and stay with the family, instead of being all alone way out in California. After first turning down her ex's heartfelt proposal, she decides she will go back with them and suprises Steve, Danica, and Logan at the airport as she arrives and meets them with bags of luggage.
