Ok, I'm scrapping that last fic and trying something different, so here goes nothing:
Chapter One
The sound of Reveille filled the air as a new day dawned on the 4077th. Hawkeye and Trapper sat next to each other in the Swamp, waiting for their bunkmate Frank to wake up. Frank mumbled something incoherent and tried to reach up and scratch his head, but he couldn’t move his arm. His eyes shot open in shock when he realized he was tied to the bed.
“You…you DEGENERATES!” He screamed, struggling against the ropes.
“Take it easy Frank, you’ll get yourself all tied up in knots.” Trapper quipped, winking at Hawkeye which caused both men to burst into laughter.
“Get me out of this!” Frank whined.
“Sorry Frank, breakfast is getting cold.” Hawkeye grinned and Trapper followed him toward the mess tent, leaving a livid Ferret Face screaming obscenities.
“I wonder what the cook plans to kill us with this morning?” Hawkeye queered as he and Trapper walked across the compound.
As they were walking, they noticed a jeep pull into the compound and a lady in dress uniform got out and saluted Henry who was there to meet her.
“Oh my God!”
Trapper froze in his tracks. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
“Hey Trap, what’s wrong? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“I have, a ghost from my past.”
Dun Dun Dun!

“What do you mean from your past?”
Hawkeye was deeply intrigued.
“Her name is Toni, Toni Williams. I met her in med school. We dated for a while and got pretty serious, then I met Louise. After Louise and I got married I realized that I still loved Toni, so I started seeing her again. We would meet at hotels and take weekend trips together whenever I could get away. I was very happy, but Toni wanted more. She wanted to be with me all the time and I just couldn’t divorce Louise, I was afraid that I would never get to see my girls again if I did, so we broke things off. I haven’t seen her in three years.”
Trapper was pacing back and forth as he explained things to Hawkeye, his brow covered in sweat.
“Of all the places in the world I could’ve run into her again, it had to be here.”
“Trapper, calm down, you look like a nervous teenager before a first date.”
Hawkeye put his arm around his friend, trying to calm him.
“I never thought I’d see her again Hawk. I mean, what the hell am I going to say to her?”
“You’ll say hello and ask her how she’s doing. There’s no reason to get so upset over this Trapper, just forget what happened in the past and start over.”
“What if she hates me?”
“If she does then I’ll go out with her.”
Hawkeye grinned incredulously, causing Trapper to laugh.
“Come on Trap, everything’s gonna be fine, I promise.”
“I hope you’re right Hawk.”
Trapper sighed as he followed Hawkeye to Henry’s office to welcome Toni to the 4077th.

“I hope you had a good trip Major,” Henry Blake smiled and handed Toni a drink.
“Thank you Colonel, it was pretty bumpy, but nothing out of the ordinary,” Toni laughed, taking a sip of her drink.
“Well well, what do we have here?” Hawkeye walked casually into Henry’s office, grinning like a Cheshire cat.
Toni choked on her drink when she saw the tall, curly haired surgeon standing behind Hawkeye. She quickly regained her composure and smiled.
“Well, if it isn’t John McIntyre, woman trapper extraordinaire,” she said.
“That’s me,” Trapper responded calmly.
“Do you two know each other?” Henry looked confused.
“Oh no Colonel, we don’t know each other,” Toni lied, “word travels fast in Korea.”
Trapper stared at her, a cool look on his face.
“Uh-huh.” Henry didn’t seem convinced, but decided not to “poke the bear” so to speak.
Hawkeye took this opportunity to get a good look at Toni. She was tall, around 5’10” he guessed with short, jet black hair and sparkling green eyes that seemed to draw you in when you looked at her. A classic beauty, she reminded him of Audrey Hepburn.
“I’m Hawkeye Pierce by the way,” Hawkeye smiled and kissed her hand.
“Toni Williams,” She smiled.
“Well Toni, on behalf of all of us here in Paradise Valley, welcome to the 4077th, I‘m sure you‘ll be a great nurse!” Hawkeye grinned.
“Actually, I'm a surgeon.” Toni smiled.
Both Hawkeye and Trapper's mouths hit the floor.
"Boys, pick your jaws up off the ground. This little lady is one helluva surgeon, recommended by General Barker himself," Henry beamed.
Toni noted the uncomfortableness coming from both men, she'd seen it before, no man was ever really comfortable with the idea of a female surgeon. She decided to get out before her anger got the best of her.
“Colonel Blake, could you point me in the direction of my tent? I really should unpack.”
“Of course Major, RADAR!”
The young Corporal ran in before Henry finished his sentence.
“Take Major Williams to her tent, yes Sir.”
“Will you please take Major…” Henry rolled his eyes, “Radar, why do you always say what I’m going to say before I have a chance to say it?”
“Somebody has to Sir,” Radar answered.
“Right, well Toni, we’re glad to have you here,” Henry smiled.
“Thank you Colonel, if you’ll excuse me,” Toni smiled and followed Radar out of the office to her tent.

Toni followed Radar across the compound to an empty space next to the last tent.
"Umm, Radar, I hate to be a bother, but where the hell is my tent?" Toni looked at the dirt in front of them, then back at Radar.
"Sorry Ma'am, the guys were supposed to have your tent put together when you got here, I'll get them right on it." Radar blushed and walked away.
"Where will I stay in the meantime?" Toni asked the young Corporal's retreating form.
"You're always welcome in the Swamp." A familiar voice hit Toni's ears and she felt like she had been punched in the gut.
She turned around and smiled carefully.
"Well, if it isn't the infamous John McIntyre, forgive me, I mean Trapper John McIntyre." Her voice dripped with bitter sarcasm.
"Is that Toni Williams? I never would've known, do they still call you the 'maneater'?" Trapper answered with just as much bitterness.
Toni's green eyes flashed with anger, but she maintained her composure.
"No, they usually refer to me as the poor young girl John McIntyre dumped for a 2 dollar whore he now calls his wife."
"I oughta punch you right in your goddamn face!" Trapper yelled, enraged.
"Only if I can kick you in the..."
"Hi kids, what's new?" Hawkeye walked in between the two of them and put his hand on Trapper's chest, pushing him backwards.
"We were just discussing the world's oldest profession." Toni sneered.
"Why you little piece of..." Trapper seethed.
"Oook! Why don't we take a little walk here Trap, do excuse us Toni." Hawkeye grabbed Trapper's arm and pulled him away.

Hawkeye dug his nails into Trapper’s bicep and drug him to the Swamp.
“Easy Hawk, what’s your problem?” Trapper scowled, rubbing the scratch marks.
“My problem? I believe you’re the one with the problem pal. What the hell were you doing back there?”
“Defending my wife’s honor, if you must know.” Trapper replied curtly.
“Yeah right Trap, you’ve joked about your wife being a cow before, I highly doubt Toni’s comment upset you that much,” Hawkeye rolled his eyes “Besides, I know you don’t want to beat her up in front of the whole camp and be labeled as an abusive surgeon,” He joked, “Now what gives?”
“I don’t want Toni to think I’m unhappy, that I miss her.” Trapper said under his breath.
“Why the hell not? After all, you do miss her, don’t you?” Hawkeye looked at him as if he’d grown three heads.
“Ok, so I miss her, big deal. I chose Louise and now I have to live with the consequences.” Trapper sank down on his bunk, head in his hands.
“Uh Trap, it’s not like you murdered someone and now you have to face a firing squad. You married the woman your parents wanted you to marry, not the one you loved, so you can sit here feeling sorry for yourself, or you can go tell Toni that you love her before it’s too late,” He smiled and ruffled Trapper’s curls before walking over to the still and fixing a drink.
“That’s easier said than done Hawk.” Trapper sighed, running his hands through his hair.

“Of all the male chauvinist pigs!” Toni ground out through clinched teeth, kicking the dirt in front on the spot where her tent should be, “I ought to kick his ass right here in front of everybody!” She punched the air before noticing a Corpsman walk by in a green evening gown.
“Well I’ll be damned, it can’t be…” She stood there, mouth wide open as she watched him talking to one of the nurses. Her face lit up and she whistled her approval after he passed her.
“Listen jerk, I’ve told you a million times, I’m only doing this to get out of this damn army, so why don’t you just…” Klinger stopped mid sentence when he turned and saw Toni standing there.
“No, that can’t be Toni, the prettiest thing in Boston and the best woman in whole damn Army, can it?” Klinger looked shocked.
“Maxie Klinger, the pride of Toledo?” Toni grinned.
Klinger laughed and pulled her into a big hug.
