(Jan. 11) - In a major role reversal, 'American Idol' contestants might get a chance to critique Paula Abdul's performance for a change.
The Grammy-winning artist turned 'American Idol' judge is in talks to perform at the Super Bowl XLII this February, TV Guide's Michael Ausiello reports.
Another season of 'American Idol' means it's time to keep an eye on the hit show's always-bubbly, sometimes-erratic judge Paula Abdul. No doubt about it, she's had her share of embarrassing moments during her 'Idol' career.
Joining the 'Forever Your Girl' singer for the football festivities is Tom Petty, who will headline the halftime show.
Abdul, whose success as a pop star in the late '80s and early '90s faded until 'Idol' rejuvenated her career, is also working on a duet with fellow judge Randy Jackson.
During her early days, Abdul had six number one singles, including 'Straight Up,' 'Forever Your Girl,' and 'Opposites Attract.'

I guess Paula can say bye bye to her job. Now all the teens who love Idol will discover what those of us who lived through the 80's and early 90's already know.... that Paula can't sing.
Awsome! Does that mean MC Scat Cat will be there too?

nope, but that Marine chick who sang many of the vocals on the Forever Your Girl album will be there to provide vocal "support" for Paula

oh, after the Milli Vanilli scandal happened, a girl named Marine something, who was in the Mary Jane Girls came out and said she came in to "enhance" a lot of Paula's weaker vocals on the Forever Your Girl album and there was a trial and everything because she felt entitled to some of the millions the album generated

I forgot that Paula won, I do remember that trial went on forever and that Paula did all the singing from there on out without contest, but she only did two albums afterwards

Paula was the first J-Lo to hit the scene. Can't sing, but they have those good ol' guys in the studio to help them in that department. ;) There was a piece of footage of Paula singing before she was ever known. She was a teen singing some song with some other teens, a la Grease. She also had her original nose too.
I mentioned this before on another thread, I know this guy who showed me in an actual recording studio how they do that. It is remarkable to hear a guy who can't sing for sh*t, suddenly have this great voice when you add a little "help" from the technology that is now in studios. Sure Paula and Jennifer sold millions of albums, BUT CAN THEY SING? I want to see them both sing accapella (sp?). Oh well, doesn't matter, to each his own. I did buy Paula's cassette when she came out.
