Burger King has used practically every #1 hit in the 70's and 80's at one point or another

Irene just saw it for the first time the other day, too. It's been running here in the Cleveland market for weeks and I've seen it countless times. How many times has that chair dance with the water been parodied over the years??

I just saw the Pizza Hut commercial for the first time yesterday. They are promoting the "Double Deep" pizza and are using "How Deep is Your Love" in the ads. This is the first time I've heard a Bee Gees song in a commercial.

Cadillac commercials with Led Zeppelin's Rock And Roll was one of the most expensive master rights to be used for commercials. YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDe23UM6kjY)

I think Pepsi used "Rock the Boat" as well. Then Mercedes-Benz used the classic Janis Joplin song "Mercedes Benz" (without the hypen) in one of their ad campaigns a few years back.

I still have those commercials on tape somewhere, including the Christmas claymation one. Yes, that is indeed Eddie Steeples from My Name as Earl, as the Rubberband Man.

"Sweetness and Light" by Lush was used in a Volkswagen commercial more than a decade ago, and I was probably the only person I know who recognized it.

Hey Cat, ever since you started your thread, I've been paying attention more to commercials!! I'm one of those channel changers when a commercial comes on.

Ones I heard recently -

Rockit - Visa

What I Like About You - Hampton Inn

Unwritten - Pantene

I've seen that one. When I first saw it and they start singing "Viva Viagra", I was like, OMG!! Yeah, like that would happen in real life! A bunch of guys sitting around singing about viagra. Sometimes commercials just give out too much information!!

2 more I heard -

Hold on Tight - Honda

Time is on my Side - Slimfast

It was either Ford or Chevy that used "Start Me Up" by the Stones and "Any Way You Want It" by Journey in their commercials a few years back.

I forget what car it was for, but they used, 'You Only Get What You Give', by the New Radicals. That song is just out-of-this-world fantastic!

I don't know how many of you have heard, but "One More Time" by Joe Jackson was used in a Taco Bell commercial. I didn't know that was a big enough hit to be used in a commercial.
