Jessica Simpson's Country record due in 2008

Jessica Simpson's country album will be released sometime in 2008 on Columbia Nashville, according to Billboard. She tells the magazine she's been collaborating with Nashville songwriters, and that because she's from Texas, she grew up listening to country music and always wanted to make a country album. In the article, she cites Martina McBride, Shania Twain, Faith Hill and Reba McEntire as inspirations.

I wonder how the country community will react. I know Jewel is doing a country album too, but since she's always been in the acoustic/folk range (minus the failed attempt at being a dance-pop star in 2003), that it really isn't that much of a stretch for her

If she does it right, I think Jewel could actually be successful with it, and I can see country fans being accepting of her. Jessica on the other hand, I can't see it happening at all...success that is.
