I'm surprised they haven't scheduled a Stale Prince marathon. I expect them to schedule several soon.
...Would it have killed them to throw an episode of Legends of the Hidden Temple on there?
I give Growing Pains a week.

Legends of the Hidden Temple doesn't fit The N really. They are only airing comedies and dramas.

I think they are testing these shows to see what ratings they get. Growing Pains and Different World probably won't do well. Growing Pains hasn't done well in syndication. Different World only got high ratings because it was on after Cosby.

It's encouraging to see "Growing Pains" on the line-up, even though that show seems a little out of their demographic.
As for "Legends of the Hidden Temple," better enjoy it the next couple of weeks on Nick GAS. I actually never had cable back at that time, so it's been fun looking back at some of these classic Nick gameshows.

No Daria? that sucks.
Legends of the Hidden Temple doesn't fit The N really. They are only airing comedies and dramas.
Outside of Growing Pains (which WILL be gone in a week) and Kenan and Kel (I've got a soft spot for that one...), they're mostly airing...well...crap.

And look what timeslots ADW and GP are in. Why air GP at noon when it's geared towards kids and teens, and those kids and teens are in school? Same goes for A Different World. If they wanted to give them a chance, they could have gotten at least a late afternoon/early primetime slot. I just hope they do well in the slots their in so that they can stick around for awhile. I'm guessing they'll be starting with season 1?

roseanne88-97: Do you actually think kids of today want to watch A Different World and Growing Pains? It is not geared towards them. Now yes, kids and teens would watch Degrassi and Kenan & Kel after school.

well, maybe kids don't wanna see ADW or Growing Pains, but why would they wanna watch Fresh Prince either then? The whole 90's feel to that show is incredibly dated to people who didn't experience it in person. Different World isn't that much older than Fresh Prince either, that show moved into the 90's a lot easier than many other of it's contemporaries in the 80's.
And if kids automatically wanna watch Fresh Prince because Will Smith is a star now, than what about Growing Pains? That show launched Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt's careers, are they not stars?

I love Sabrina but I can just catch that on ABC Family. Like with Nick GaS, I once wish that I had Noggin/The-N simply because most shows they were offering weren't easy to find; particularly the CTW shows like The Electric Company and older Nick shows like Clarissa Explains It All. And it really looked like a lot of fun. But not anymore. Over 90% of that stuff I can find elsewhere or don't care for.

I think what is being said is that ADW is airing in the morning, whereas afterschool hours are devoted to shows kids would watch. FP is airing at 1 in the morning, so kids are not up at that hour (we assume).
Pavan

Fresh Prince is after 10pm, not after school. The show has done much better in reruns than A Different World and Growing Pains. People know Will Smith was in Fresh Prince...DiCaprio was only on for the last season of Growing Pains. So should they rerun that season over and over again after school for kids? Pitt was just a guest star.

With the DiCaprio thing . . . Disney did it. They would air the first six seasons every so often, but they really lured in viewers when they aired season 7. It was crazy.
And Pavan, I can understand what you mean about kids not wanting to watch GP and ADW, but for the kids that would want to watch it, wouldn't it do better in the afterschool hours? Even for me, those morning hours are a bad time for me. I'm more free past 3pm it seems.

That is a huge risk airing those two shows after 3pm. Remember this is a business...and ratings are all that matter. It doesn't fit The N's audience at all really...which is a surprise why they are even on. You all should be happy they are on. TiVo/DVR/VCR them I guess.

You're right . . . Although, since they have a limited number of shows to fill 24 hours, it isn't too mucn of a surprise, but at least they are on. Definitely will Tivo them starting with season 2 for both shows, if they even make it to that.

They would air seasons 1-6 normally, then once they got to season 7, they would air the season like 3 times before going back to season 1. Then when they did go back, they would mix the first 6 seasone episopes with season 7 episodes. It was crazy.

Brad Pitt was only on two episodes. Leo was only on in the last season. They'd probably want to watch it if Kirk Cameron was a big star instead of a religious nut.

I understand why they care about prime time hours, that's when the big ratings come in, but after 11:30 or midnight or so, why not just air the good stuff then instead of repeating and forcefeeding the same overplayed garbage that they show in prime time? Who really wants to watch Fresh Prince after midnight when they have six chances to watch it beforehand? Those 12-6 hours is when they could be burning off the lesser popular shows instead of constantly shoving Fresh Prince down your throat

Network Celebrates New 24-Hour Status with Special 12-Hour New Year’s Eve Countdown:
24 Reasons to Love The N in 2008
NEW YORK, Dec. 17, 2007 – The N takes a monumental step forward on New Year’s Eve as the network moves onto new channel space and expands from a 12-hour programming block into a 24-hour teen network, beginning Monday, Dec. 31, at 6:00 a.m. (ET). The newly 24/7 network will feature a daytime block of hit TEENick programming and will welcome new shows to its nighttime schedule of originals including Queen Bees, The N’s Student Body and The Assistants, among others. To celebrate its expansion, The N will count down 24 Reasons to Love The N in 2008 in a 12-hour programming marathon premiering Monday, Dec. 31, at 12:00 p.m. (ET).
“The N going 24 is a great opportunity to provide around-the-clock teen programming to our growing audience as we continue to roll out new series, specials and acquisitions,” said Sarah Tomassi Lindman, Senior Vice President and General Manager, The N. “The network’s distinct perspective that reflects the teen experience will now be available anytime and everywhere.”
With a brand-new 24-hour schedule for teens, The N will roll out the return of Degrassi (Season Seven) and South of Nowhere (Season Four); three originals and two acquired series in 2008. Saved by the Bell will begin airing on Monday, Jan. 14 and the award-winning That 70’s Show will begin airing in June. The N will also debut two new reality series, Queen Bees and The N’s Student Body, both scheduled to premiere in summer, 2008 as well as a new scripted comedy, The Assistants, in the fall. Additionally, popular favorites from the TEENick line-up including Kenan & Kel, Unfabulous and Just Jordan will join The N’s new daytime schedule.
24 Reasons to Love The N in 2008 will be hosted by Degrassi’s Aubrey Graham, Shenae Grimes and Cassie Steele, along with TEENick’s Lil’ JJ of Just Jordan and Malese Jow and Raja Fenske of Unfabulous. The marathon takes a look back at favorite episodes from the network’s five-year history and gives viewers a sneak-peek at upcoming programming for 2008 including the season return of Degrassi: The Next Generation which premieres on Sunday, Jan. 18, at 8:00 p.m. (ET); the return of the original teen comedy, About A Girl on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 8:00 p.m. (ET); the February premiere of Degrassi in Kenya, a new half-hour documentary special featuring cast members from the hit series; and the season return of the critically acclaimed series, South of Nowhere, premiering April 2008.
At 11:30 p.m. (ET), the marathon concludes with a half-hour special revealing the number-one reason to love The N in 2008 along with the debut of the network’s first on-air screening party. The special showcases The-N.com’s social media application where online users can chat, play games and watch The N's video content in a virtual party environment with their friends.
The N’s programming highlights for 2008 include:
Saved by the Bell - Premiering Monday, Jan. 14 - The N has acquired the complete six-season library of the quintessential teen series. The series features six enterprising, adventurous high school students with inventive schemes and mischievous dreams. Their days at school and their nights at their favorite hangout are the setting for an entertaining array of conflicts, laughs and teen romances. Saved by the Bell stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Mario Lopez, Dustin Diamond, Elizabeth Berkley and Lark Voorhies.
Degrassi: The Next Generation – Season seven returns on Friday, Jan. 18, at 8:00 p.m. (ET) The new season picks up in the middle of a school year already riddled with tragedy. A fire at Lakehurst -- the school of JT's killer -- forces many of its students into the halls of Degrassi, with explosive results. Amidst the newfound clutter and chaos, Spinner and Darcy deal with dark, personal tragedies, Jimmy and Ashley test their love, and Emma and Manny explore new, surprising relationships, all while hurtling toward graduation. Ellie and Marco discover that exploring their new freedom comes with dire consequences, while Paige, fresh from flaming out of school, gets a great new job, but learns quickly the demands of the real world.
About A Girl – Season one returns on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 8:00 p.m. (ET) with original episodes - The half-hour comedy chronicles the adventures of college sophomore Amy Ryan (Chiara Zanni, Good Luck Chuck) after her single dorm room turns out to be a nightmare. Desperate and homeless, she’s forced to live with not one, but four male roommates in an off-campus house where everyday courtesies such as hygiene and privacy are out of the question.
Degrassi in Kenya – Premieres Feb. 2008 - A half-hour documentary special featuring many of the cast members from the hit series as they take a personal journey to the impoverished region to work as a team and build a new school house for the community.
South of Nowhere – Season four returns April 2008 – The half-hour series is a fictional story about a contemporary American family and their multi-faceted journey of self-discovery. Set in Los Angeles, the series chronicles the members of the Carlin family as they try to define themselves and make sense of their Ohio values in big city of Los Angeles. The family is at the heart of the series and while their characters are unique, they reflect many American families today -- bound by their evolving identity and their close relationships.
That 70’s Show – Premieres June 2008 – The N has acquired all eight seasons of the award-winning series. The series revolves around the lives of several teens living in Wisconsin in 1976 including Eric Forman (Topher Grace), who lives under the authority of parents, the girl next door and girlfriend Donna Pinciotti (Laura Prepon), Fez (Wilmer Valderrama), a foreign-exchange student soaking up American culture, Jackie Burkhart (Mila Kunis), her on-again, off-again boyfriend Michael Kelso (Ashton Kutcher) and Steven Hyde (Danny Masterson), the conspiracy theorist of the group. The gang spends their time in Eric's basement, thinking of their lives, parents, and futures, but they manage to get into funny adventures and mishaps along the way through their teenage years.
Queen Bees – Premieres July 2008 – The eight-episode, half-hour reality series is designed to rehabilitate the meanest girls from different walks of life. Filled with big, loud characters who are so mean they'll actually make you laugh, the show is funny but still has a big heart. Viewers will discover the true emotional reasons behind each contestant's meanness as each girl changes for the better. The series is co-produced by The N and Endemol USA.
The N’s Student Body – Premieres Aug. 2008 - The eight-episode, hour-long series brings together two rival high schools and their local community for a life-changing mission of personal health and wellness. The series is hosted by accomplished motivational author, famed athlete and champion of health and fitness, Laila Ali, and is executive produced by The N, along with Reveille’s Mark Koops, Dave Broome of 25/7 Productions and Ben Silverman, the founder of Reveille and now Co-Chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios.
The Assistants – Premieres Oct. 2008 - The half-hour series takes a comedic look at four 20-something, showbiz assistants working for a big-shot Hollywood producer as they strive to make it in the chaotic, sometimes cruel, but always zany world of Hollywood. The series is executive produced by The Tom Lynch Company, Will McRobb and Chris Viscardi. McRobb and Viscardi are also the show creators and will serve as show runners.

Plus i think they should've went after the entire Peter Engel while they're @ it
"California Dreams"
"Saved by the Bell: The New Class" (yes i liked the new class too)
"Hang Time"
"USA High"
"City Guys"
"One World"
"Malibu, CA"
"All About Us" I don't how they can pull it off since it lasted a season
i mean if TPTB had any sense they would find a way to acquire and air them on the new N.It's a hell of a lot better that show programs that's are already on various other channels.
but friendsfan77 makes a great point about the Over 90% of that stuff I can find elsewhere or don't care for comment.
think about it they already show Sabrina on abc family, that 70's on FX (soon to be on ABC Family as well) and on syndication, and i don't need to tell y'all about the Fresh Prince.

How about Dave's World,Major Dad,S. Ward's show that was on ABC,Life goes on on this channel?
How about some of it's own Primetime Programming like a TGIF with remakes of like Full House,Brday Bunch,Step by Step and Home Improvement? Other nights could have new Shows to.
How about somebody start a replacement channel deicated to just Kids Game Shows because we have GSN that's for the Adults like Double Dare,Legends of Hidden Temple,Guts and so on and could include new Kids ones to?

How about somebody start a channel deicated to just Kids Game Shows because we have GSN that's for the Adults like Double Dare,Legends of Hidden Temple,Guts and so on and could include new Kids ones to?
Well, there's Nick GaS which has been around since 1999, however I think it stopped being so great when all the Summers' versions of Double Dare were taken off 3 years ago. Right now it's really just the same 5 or 6 shows over and over. It's going to be a on-line only service starting New Year's Eve.

OK, so let's see here about Saved By the Bell. There were only 4 seasons of the show, 6 if you include Miss Bliss & the College Years.
TBS - 4 airings weekdays -- 20 per week
The N - 4 airings weekdays / 8 airings weekends -- 28 per week
Local syndication - 1 airing weekends -- 1 per week
TOTAL - 49 airings per week

Wow. I love SBTB but enough is enough. That is just overkill. Rerun abuse at its finest. I don't care that it airs on local television as well as cable because not everybody has cable, but for it to air on more than one cable network and said cable networks air it more than twice a day is just ridiculous.

I remember back in the mid '90's when it aired in a comedy block at 5:05 and 5:35 PM, then followed an hour each of Growing Pains and Who's The Boss?. Good times.

i didnt like the original N block on noggin nor did i care for nick gas not changing its schedule in years but right now seeing the N as a 24 hour channel since 6am this morning i already want it off my line-up even the kids that love the channel are complaining about the schedule on the n's message boards. personally if they want to air nickelodeon shows they should put the original All That on,clarissa, pete & pete..along those lines and remove the crap like fresh prince/growing pains/a different world as those shows seem to fit more with the flow of the channel. ill give it some time and see how the schedule shapes up but the only thing worth watching on it for me is Kenan & Kel

The network definitely launched today, because as I said, I was watching on and off today. However, the guide still listed the channel as Nick GAS and instead of listing The N's programming, it listed "Off Air." Now the channel isn't even there anymore. I know that a lot of people with DISH TV were complaining that they never got the new channel or that, strangely, Nick Gas' programming was still playing. I have Time Warner Cable, by the way. This sucks!

Here's another thing. I just checked out their online schedule at their website, and their schedule only lists the shows for their onld onair time, from 6pm-2:30am. So, did it launch as an all day network or what?
Heckles101
12-31-2007, 11:58 PM
Yes it definitely launched this morning at 6AM because I was awake and saw The N change channels. I think it's just Time Warner Cable that screwed up and took the channel off. They better fix this ASAP!

well, I got my N today - watched some of the marathon and my thoughts on it are:
1. the best thing about "South of Nowhere" is the THEME SONG
2. that "About a Girl" show is goofy but alright
3. they are finally going to be showing more eps of Instant Star and Radio Free Rosco
4. Degrassi keeps getting goofier every year - and I think that everyone on there has hooked up in every combination possible
5. Everybody's a lesbian, all the time.
6. that "Zooey 101" show is a complete waste of everything.
7. of the non-N shows added, the one i am most happy about is Keenan & Kel.
8. no matter what happens, they are going to be running several of these shows into the ground.

not sure how it goes with satelite but Nick GAS channel was taken over by The N..so its officially gone and can only be seen as a broadband channel on nick.com's turbo nick service. on time warner cable nick gas just switched to The N..you can also goto the-n.com and type in your zip code to see what channel it'll be..if you have nick gas tho just try checking that channel and see if it has The N logo on the programming. and yes growing pains will start airing tomorrow (once the marathon is over) at 12 noon i believe.

Growing Pains has just started airing . . . it's the Pilot, which I'm not even gonna bother watching, since I own it on DVD and have seen it a thousand times.
But, yeah, Nick GAS is gone for good. My kids are upset, cause they used to watch that A LOT. But, I couldn't be happier one bit. Watching Kenan and Kel was great last night - never used to watch Snick much in the 90's, but this was one show I would watch when it was on. Enjoyed watching Sabrina, too, and looking forward to SBTB!
Now, if only Fresh Prince could be gone for good . . .

What the other posters are saying is correct - Dish Network is still splitting the Noggin / The N feed on one channel. Noggin runs from 6am-6pm and The N from 6pm-6am. And they still are airing the Nick GAS channel.
I'm assuming it's a contract dispute between Dish Network and Viacom. Nick GAS airs on a higher tier package than Noggin/The N, so Viacom probably didn't want The N to lose viewers.
So, "Legends of the Hidden Temple" fans can still see it on Dish Network... for now.

The Degrassi marathon was scheduled before they premiered the new schedule, so this says nothing about the performances of their daytime shows like Growing Pains.
Plus, I've been watching The N since it launched in '02 and I've never known them to just abruptly drop a show. In the past, they usually phased a show out gradually by moving it later and later into the wee hours until it was gone.

When Will The N starting airing That 70's Show
Towards the end of June.
Well after only 3 days of their regular schedule last week, they're already replacing shows with Degrassi and surprisingly, the shows in question are not A Different World and Growing Pains! Degrassi: The Next Generation will now be on from 1 - 3pm et (and will still be on from 5-6p.. thats right -- 3 hrs a day!) replacing Caitlin's Way and Clueless. Clueless is now completely off the schedule while Caitlin's Way will retain it's 6AM et slot.
ETA: Oh, I almost forgot! Maybe someone from The N is reading this thread because they're gonna start showing 2 different episodes of Growing Pains each day, instead of repeating the 12:30 one at 12 the next day!
