Bob Hope was born Leslie Townes Hope in Eltham, London, England, in 1903.
His family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, when he was four years old. After a
stint as an amateur boxer (under the name "Packy East"), Hope joined the
vaudeville circuit. It didn't take long for Bob to make his mark on Broadway,
radio, motion pictures and television. His longevity as a star may never be
challenged. He died at age 100, in 2003. Notable films include the seven "Road to .." pictures with Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour, "Son of
Paleface," "The Seven Little Foys," "The Lemon Drop Kid" and four films with
Lucille Ball. But perhaps his most lasting legacy was his many overseas trips to entertain the troops. Thanks for the memories, Bob!

I like the "On The Road..." films with Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour. My favorites are Road to Utopia and Road to Singapore.

Bob Hope - what can I say about a fellow Clevelander who was a CLASS ACT and a FUNNY one at that? He ROCKED.

I know "Thanks for the Memories" was his signature song. Now I can never hear or even think about that song now without Connie Chung's horrible rendition coming to mind. Poor Bob must have been spinning in his grave!!! puke:

I remember watching his tv specials on NBC with my family. He was one of the best Oscar host too. If ever there was a entertainer it was him.

Bob Hope....he was a class act...I loved his Christmas shows. I used to watch them every year. I wish NBC would rerun some of them around the Holidays.
