View Full Version : Worst Customer Service?

What are your tales of bad customer service? I went to a Walgreens, and I asked for cashback(Walgreens gives money back if you pay from a debit card), and the cashier had the audacity to ask me why I wanted money back! I was thinking, "None of your effing business!" (I felt extremely uncomfortable and uspet). I didn't say it aloud though, because I am too meek and worry a lot about what people think. I didn't go back to that Walgreens for about two weeks, and the only reason I came back was because that Walgreens was the closest to my house. I did complain about her though to another employee and asked that they tell her not to ask customers why they need money back, because other customers will curse her out or tell her to MHOB.

I would have said " I need the change. I hope that's ok " It is isn' it.?
Then let her reply or not reply.

I was at Wal-Mart one time with a friend who wanted a soundtrack, and we were having trouble finding them. My friend asked a lazy looking salesperson in electronics where they have soundtracks and she smiled and was like ummmmm what? We asked her again and she said ummmmmm...nope. First of all I know for a fact Wal-Mart has soundtracks, and second even if they didn't carry soundtracks the least she could've done was look. (by the way, we ended up finding the soundtracks for ourselves...in a stupid place) Thats one of the billion reasons i hate Wal-Mart.

Yeah, suddenly work isn't what it used to be. Even if the Best Buy people dont know anything, they can still pull info up on their magical computer for customers. What gets me though is that some of the employees dont even try to do that.

My grandfather's a retired Best Buy employee, and he knew a lot about product warranties. Sorry, but I had to share that.

I'm sure there are the odd employees there that do know what they're talking about, but I've yet to come across one. You say he knew about product warranties, but did he know everything about each product and it's specs itself?
Every time we've gone in they don't know all the specs about their plasma t.v.'s or the proper hookups for HD, etc.. A lot of the time they don't even know that they're getting certain products in (i.e. the new 65" Panasonic plasma). My husband knows way more than most of their clerks do just by researching on the internet.
They lose a ton of sales by being product ignorant imo.

When he was working at Best Buy, they had a lot of training for the regular employees, but the Christmas helpers didn't get much training and wouldn't get much of specifics in any dept. It's hard to have every employee know everything and some of the customers know much more about certain products that they are interested in buying. With the internet and all the info available, some customers enjoy being smarter than the employees. Best Buy employees don't get much information about what products are being sent to the stores and with all the shipping problems every store has it's hard to know what's coming in every day. The Best Buy Co. does lose sales because of the employees' knowledge but this has been a big problem for a long time and with the new products being more technical in nature it's a big issue for all companies. Like all stores, there are good workers who know what's going on and some that are only looking for a paycheck and will be gone in January.

At a McDonald's, I was eating a McFlurry, when I realized that i needed to go doo-doo in the bathroom. I didn't want to go doo-doo with the McFlurry, so I asked a cashier if they could keep it in the freezer, and they said that they weren't allowed to go hold customer's foods in freezers. So, I set it down on a table, and asked a worker if they would watch it for me. and they said yes. I went to the bathroom, and when I returned, it was thrown away.... I went up to the cashier and asked for a free new one, since the worker told me that they would watch it and let it be thrown away. One cashier seemed to be willing to do it, but I gues the manager or another cahsier said, "That's not our problem." BITCH! You never say, 'That's not our problem" to the customer...! and refused to give me a free McFlurry:mad: And after just a few bites of my McFlurry, over half of my money was wasted.... What nasty service! I couldn't believe almost three dollars was wasted, and I did not want to buy anohter McFlurry because of my lost McFluirry. I only came back to that McDonald's out of convienience, not because of good service. If it weren't for the convienice, i wouldn't return................

Same when somebody says to me "Well, I just work here" when you come to them with a problem. I've been told that 3 times. The first 2 times I let it go, but the 3rd time it was said to me, I finally said something back. I said "You need to find another line of work because you're customer service skills suck!! You never say 'I just work here' to a customer", especially when I go up to the person and I'm as nice as I can be to them. I know how it is working on the other side of the counter so I'm really nice and I have NEVER told a customer that 'I just work here'.
Gee, Janice, with all the money McD's makes I figure they could part with one more Flurry. It probably only cost them 25 cents to make!!

My biggest customer service pet peeves:
1. Employees who do not speak or understand English.
2. Cashiers who cannot do basic elementary school math.
3. Employees who pay absolutely no attention to you whatsoever.
4. Baggers who find it too difficult to keep my cold items together and my bread and eggs from getting crushed.
5. Employees who tell me "I just work here" or "It's not my department."
6. Cashiers who see that I am next in line, but tell the people in line behind me that they're opening a register.
7. Employees who just have nasty attitudes in general.
8. Cashiers who put my change or card on the counter instead of in my outstretched hand. (I always put my money or card in the cashier's hand.)
9. Employees who have no idea about the products they are selling.
10. Cashiers who tell me they need my phone number.

I have seen a lot of bad customer service. At WalMart during Christmas '07, I was in line to purchase my things. The cashier over charged me. I told her she over charged me and she told me to handle it over at the customer service desk. Then she continued to giggle and talk with her guy friends. I was so mad. Some people that work at our Burger King are kind of rude. Me and my father ordered hot chocolate and the lady made a dirty look at us. The ladies at our local DMV are REALLY RUDE. They do not smile. They speak to you in a mad tone of voice. I only go to that place unless I really have to. I am petrified and I shake when I have to go there because they are so rude.

I am so sick of people that work like that. They are there just to collect a pay check. Oh, and another place were employees are rude is at our local welfare office. A few years ago, we had to go there before my father found a good paying job for extra financial help. The lady was so rude she put me in tears, She asked my moms hair color, her weight, her age, and her eye color and where she worked. The lady was also so rude she made my father shaky. THAT LADY WAS A REAL B*TCH!

reminds me of one time when i was looking at some shirts in a clothes store and a lady working there came to me and said "i think these shirts are a little too big for you, you might want to look over there for shirts that will fit." it's slightly better than implying i was too fat for what i was looking at, but still. i wear anything from medium to XXL. i don't care if something is too big and it isn't any store clerk's business.
the bookstore at my school tends to be pretty bad too.
lady: can i help you find something?
me: yeah, i'm looking for the book for music 107.
lady: music 107...is there even a BOOK for that?!
[while buying the book]
lady: there's a raffle to win a dinner for two at casa manana and you've spent enough money to enter four times, do you want to?
me: no.
lady: no, it's a dinner for two, you can enter it FOUR times, it won't cost you anything.
god, shut the **** up.
Me and my family have gone to some Cracker Barrels in the past and the
service was less than outstanding.

The same thing happened to me yesterday! I went to a tee-shirt store in NYC and got the same comment from some young guy that barely spoke any English. When I asked to see a shirt that was displayed on the wall, he merely said, "That won't fit you" and suggested another shirt instead. I was so freaking pissed that I said, "forget it, I don't want any of your shirts...good bye!" Seriously, how f*cking rude! I was sooo angry.

I had the opposite problem. I'm a cashier and once I scanned somthing twice. I noticed it, and voided the extra one off. When I gave the customer his receipt I showed him that there was something that scanned twice and that I had taken it off. He went on to rudely tell me that the store should really train us better so we wouldn't make mistakes. I didn't realized that I was expected to never make a mistake ever especially a minor one that I easily fixed.

Dumb. No reason to get uptight when you corrected your error.
I didn't notice it until I got home and I wasn't going to make a stink over $2.24, but it was a two pack of something that was tied together and the lady charged me twice. Most of the time when someone accidentally rings something up twice, they notice right away. So I wondered if she thought I had to pay for both individually, despite the tag saying "2 pack".

At Blockbuster video store, I rented (and payed for) 2 video games for my son. After they handed me the bag, I checked the cases to make sure the discs were right. One case was empty-the cashier gave me a dumb look --then looked around and then said she couldn't find that game. I gave them back the empty case and they said they would credit our account for a free game next visit.
I also told them that the candy bars that were in the bargain bin at 50 cents apiece had expired in February 08.
On my next visit (the next week), they hadn't credited the account for the game I paid for and didn't get. (That cashier wasn't working there anymore). The expired candy bars were still there, too.
