I f*** hate Ike Turner!
So do I. With a passion. Although, Bobby Brown is not too far behind.
Whitney was stupid and blind and eventually became a drug user. So, in a way, I don't feel as bad for her as I do Tina. Tina never turned to drugs or alcohol to deal with what Ike did to her. Tina almost committed suicide. Yet, she left that bastard and worked hard to get where she is at now. What an inspiration. I hope Whitney comes clean with her demons.

Well said, salt sister! I agree 100%. Tina never made herself into a joke like Whitney did.

I always thought Whitney and Bobby were a mismatched pair from the start. She was always the goody goody girl next door, while Bobby was seen as the bad boy who got arrested for having sex with a girl onstage. Plus, there was a six year age difference, which now isn't that drastic, but at the time was probably a little too much seeing a 29 year old diva marrying a 22 year old guy. Ike was well into his 30's/40's when all the abuse with Tina went on

Thank you my sister. Tina had to start all over again. She had a name but that name wasn't doing her anything until she started anew and did those crappy hotel shows. She started from the bottom and worked her way to the top. I admire her and she is one of my idols.
As you stated, Whitney is a joke. Until she gets her head together, gets help and pick up the pieces (leaving Bobby is the first step) she can enjoy a comeback as well.

i cannot believe that she is so screwed up. she needs to ditch the drugs for good and get over herself. i think that she had still been married to bobby, she would be in far much worser state than she is right now. that guy is a total control freak

yea, I agree, especially in the early days of their marriage when Whitney's public image was of that as the "good girl next door" while Bobby was a bad boy

well they are both abusers of women, which is why i started this thread because that's who they are and frankly, its terrible that these men have on countless occassions got away with what they did

he also tried but failed to reinvent his career when he teamed up with ja-rule and murder inc on his so called comeback single 'thug lovin' or whatever it is called a few years ago. it was a terrible record

Bobby had his day and was great back when new jack swing was the thing, but ever since then he's been terrible

I remember how hard I laughed at Whitney and Bobby when they did that stupid duet song SOMETHING IN COMMON... Like they were trying to prove to the world they had "something" in common. Yeah you dumb hypes... DRUGS!
And then that other song Whitney did "It's ok" or "It's alright" or whatever that piece of junk was called.
Whitney made herself look like a fool by not believing that her man would cheat on her.

It's Not Right But It's Okay? The remix of that song is definately up there with her greats IMO. The original version is for the birds though

Yep, thank you, that is the song I was referring to. I actually love the sound, the beat, etc. The lyrics are what kill me. Hey Whitney, we know it's ok for Bobby to treat you like crap.

the original version of that song is total anti-melodic crap, but the club mix of that song was hot when it came out in summer 99. It definately worked better as a dance anthem
Actually, she was kicking the husband out in that song, art preceded life by about seven years

Yes, the club version is the one that I was referring to when I mentioned the beat that I liked.
I guess Bobby B. wasn't paying attention to the lyrics when she sung them. Or maybe he did, and then knocked her around for that.

lol.
in a way it's kind of ironic that she was in the middle of an abusive marriage when she comes out with a triumphant female anthem with the chorus of
"it's not right but it's okay
I'm gonna make it anyway
pack your bags up and leave
don't you dare come runnin' back to me
it's not right but it's okay
I'm gonna make it anyway
close the door behind you, leave the key
I'd rather be alone than unhappy" when in real life she was completely living the opposite of what she was preaching.
I have a feeling Whitney's gonna pull through tho, she is off the drugs now and gave a comeback performance a few weeks ago. They said the voice isn't quite what it was in the 80's/early 90's, but it's much better than it was when she was using. She'll never had what she had back in the day but I do think she has the ability to atone for the past decade or so where everything derailed because of her drugs

you mean 'it's not right but it's okay'? the lyrics mirror a lot of truth in regards to her life though.
she was more of a fool when she acted all wierd at one point when she was with bobby

if she does make a comeback, then i hope her songs will be very much like classics such as ' i wanna dance with somebody', how will i know and so emotional instead of the type of r'n'b that is in the charts today

the remix actually resparked my interest in Whitney. By 1999, I was long over her (last album I'd had was Bodyguard) then that song came out and suddenly she was cool once again for a few weeks.
