A section of TV shows that are ignored when it comes to DVD releases is game shows. Why is this? There are several game shows that deserve to be released on DVD. I would think popular shows like Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy!, Family Feud, and Millionaire, and even some less popular shows would do well in sales. I realize some game shows are five days a week and that would make a whole lot of episodes for one season. But they could release in one or two month blocks, all the shows from September and October of a year then move on to November and December. Another genre that should be released is good talk shows like Jay Leno. And while I'm not a fan of them some of the daytime soaps would probably do well too.

Hi Catsrule, cool name. I have two cats that I hand raised from infants. I agree with you about Game shows. I'd love to see Family Feud, Let's Make A Deal, The Gong Show, and the 10 or $25,000 Pyramid Game and Password come to DVD. There is good news, Match Game is already on dvd. Now The Family Feud Specials are headed to dvd in January.

I also think the old Soaps would do well, the ones from the 70's through the 80's. My favorites from that era are All My Children, One Life To Live, and General Hospital. I have the best of the Weddings from these soaps on VHS and I love it if they were on DVD.

I've really enjoyed the Match Game set. I just wish BCI would start releasing some more game shows on DVD, and quicker!

To help anyone out, the Family Feud All Star specials are headed to DVD January 15th. BCI has also said to bring out Family Feud: Volume 1, Price is Right: Volume 1 (classic Barker episodes) and Match Game: Volume 2 by summer. I just hope they stay true to their word, because that right there would be a great collection.

Does anyone else know what other shows BCI has rights to? I'd love to see classic Wheel and Jeopardy episodes on DVD, but I know Sony owns those 2.

At the moment, it's my understanding that BCI only holds the rights to Match Game, Family Feud, and The Price is Right.

I'd like to see "The Dating Game" with Jim Lange, especially the celeb appearances.

"You Bet Your Life" is the only game show other than "Match Game" that has had DVD releases devoted entirely to the show. There are some other sets though where a vintage game show episode has been included as a bonus.

Dick Van Dyke Show S2-Contains one episode of the 1962-63 game show "Stump The Stars"

Twilight Zone S1-Contains one episode of the 1969 Rod Serling hosted game show "Liars Club"

Shout's release devoted to Johnny Carson's 1955-56 variety show has as a bonus one episode of the ABC game show "Who Do You Trust?" that Carson hosted from October 1958.

Really looking forward to seeing the casts, especially of The Jeffersons, Soap, and Three's Company on here - it's gonna be a great DVD, and at a great price, too.

I wish Wheel of Fortune and Pyramid would have releases. Sony has such a good classic library. Too bad it's not taken advantage of that much.

just another example of Sony's laziness . . . god, there's so many of them out there

They did put out that Jeopardy DVD a few years back. I don't own it, but I believe it included the first episode with Alex Trebek and a few others.

Great news! Now I can own 3 classic game shows! I'm guessing it's from the older seasons (70's, possibly early 80's) with Bob Barker?

While I don't have a specific episode list, the DVD will definitely be entirely comprised of Bob Barker-hosted episodes, and I *believe* the DVD will be mostly older episodes (though I haven't heard for sure)
