Good news for The Big Bang Theory fans. CBS President and CEO Les Moonves said today he is likely to bring back The Big Bang Theory next season should the strike last the whole season. Here is an excerpt from an article that covered a speech Moonves gave today :

CBS to Air Showtime's Dexter; Will Renew Big Bang, Moonlight

John Consoli

DECEMBER 04, 2007 -

Look for CBS to begin airing sister pay cable network Showtime hit drama Dexter sometime in midseason if the Writers Strike is prolonged, and for the broadcast network to bring back freshman sitcom The Big Bang Theory and first-year drama Moonlight next season.

Speaking at the 35th annual UBS Global Media & Communications Conference in New York today (Dec. 4), Les Moonves, CBS Corp. president & CEO, mentioned the two freshman shows as likely to return next season, and that CBS would be looking to air some Showtime shows to supplement its schedule should the Writers Guild strike continue and effect the return of first-run shows on the network.

It apparently is, here is another quote from Moonves from a Forbes article :

New Fall Shows
We put on five new shows, and I think two [ Moonlight and Big Bang Theory] will be back a year from now, assuming the strike is over by then, which we assume it will be. I think that's pretty good.

That is great news. They should renew it, as it has been doing over 9 million when airing originals, and even repeating better than last year's The Class was doing in originals.

They should be right back in production if and when this writers strike ever ends.

CBS should renew The Big Bang Theory for next season. It has become one of my favorite current sitcoms as well as one of the best written. What other sitcom would incorporate scientific words into the scripts?
