LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE: Christmas on Plum Creek is the Ingalls' family first Christmas and they each try to be secretive abt the gifts they are giving each other. Laura buys her mother a stove by selling her beloved horse, Bunny, to Mr. Olsen for Nellie. Very touching episode as Laura is saddened when she feels bad for her father who made her a leather riding saddle for her horse that she sold.

THE WALTONS: The episode titled DAY OF INFAMY. Mary Ellen Walton finds out her husband, Curt, who is in Pearl Harbor, may or may not have survived the attack by the Japanese. As she waits and ponders to hear of any news, she has flashbacks of how they met and married. She finds out at the end of the episode that her husband was in fact killed at Pearl Harbor. Later in the series, we see Curt "come back to life." He was only injured at Pearl Harbor. He feigned his death. I didn't like that episode at all.

THE JEFFERSONS: My fave episode is when George visits his old neighborhood, the one he grew up in as a child. He had made a promise he would never allow bad Christmas' to occur again in the apartment him and his family lived in. He would visit yearly to this particular apartment and leave money, presents, etc. Louise had grown suspicious of George, thinking he was being unfaithful. She learns of George's anonymous gifts to the family and she is touched.

FACTS OF LIFE: There are two episodes I love. One is where the girls perform for a group of men in jail. The girls sing Christmas songs.
The second episode is when Blair's mother gives birth to a baby girl on Christmas.

HAPPY DAYS: The episode where Fonzie has nowhere to go on Christmas but he lies to Richie abt his holiday plans because he doesn't want anyone to know he is alone. Eventually Richie invites him over to his home to celebrate Christmas with the family.

ALICE: When Alice, Flo, Vera, Tommy and Mel are in a truck and eventually get stranded. They start to eat away at a gingerbread house.

The Norm Show had a great Christmas episode. Too bad it was canceled. It was truly an underrated sitcom.

Riptide: Home For Christmas is such a great episode.
Happy Days: Where Heather wants Ashley to make up with her parents and Howard's brother comes and they get in a fight.
Full House: Our Very First Christmas Show and A Very Tanner Christmas. I can't choose just one because those are both great.
Who's the Boss?: Requiem

I will think of more later.

My very favourite is Guess Who's Coming to Christmas - Happy Days (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=12). For straight LOL comedy nothing beats the Married with Children (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=84) episodes. On the dark side, 70s crime dramas How Cruel the Frost, How Bright the Stars - Kojak (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=575) and Little Girl Lost - Starsky & Hutch (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=556).

I always loved Christmas marathons on Nick at Nite and later TVLand, back in the day. There were absolute favorites that I had to see every year, and then lots of others that I enjoyed. While most kids like "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Frosty the Snowman" and stuff like that, I usually waited for my favorite Xmas episodes of classic TV shows to come on. Some of my favorites...

"The Brady Bunch" - Carol is going to sing "O Come All Ye Faithful" at church on Christmas, but she loses her voice.

"Laverne & Shirley" - the gang sings and dances at a Christmas show at a mental institution...Carmine sings "Jingle Bell Rock," and Laverne flirts with a deaf-mute with her tongue lol

"The Facts of Life" - the girls do a Christmas show at a jail...there are audio clips at the FOL part of the main SO site.

"Three's Company" - Jack, Janet, and Chrissy don't get their invitation to a party, so they end up going to a not-so-festive party get-together at the Ropers'...ends up nobody wanted to be at the Ropers - even the Ropers wanted to be at the other party...and they all *were* invited, just didn't get the invitations.

"Mary Tyler Moore" - Mary works all alone on Christmas day at WJM

"All in the Family" - a friend of Mike's, a draft dodger, has dinner with the Bunkers, along with a friend of Archie's who lost his son in the war

"Alice" - the gang spends Christmas on a semi truck

"The New Dick Van Dyke Show" - Dick gets arrested on Christmas Eve and has to spend the holiday in jail...and so does Ted, who goes to get him.

"The Dick Van Dyke Show" - the staff of "The Alan Brady Show" puts on a Christmas special...Sally sings about wanting a man for Christmas...Rob and Laura are two department store Santas...Richie sings "The Little Drummer Boy"...among other great moments.

"The Flying Nun" - Sister Bertrille wants to make it snow for one of the elderly nuns and ends up dropping bags of dry ice over Puerto Rico.

"Flamingo Road" - Michael wants the Cubans evicted from the barrio on Christmas Eve, while Constance and Fielding come to a brief holiday truce.

"All My Children" - Christmas 2003, Krystal and Babe spend Christmas with the Martins and Chandlers at the Martin home, where tensions rise between JR and Jamie. Bianca babysits an abandoned child at the church before going to Erica's penthouse. Greenlee spends the night at the boathouse, "talking" to the spirit of her late husband Leo, while Adam Chandler is arrested for breaking into Dr. Joe's office at the hospital.

There are lots of others that I like too, but I haven't seen them enough to really consider them. It's a shame too, because I loved the Christmas episodes of "Hazel" and "The Donna Reed Show," but NOBODY airs them anymore.
