Not bad for the holiday episodes. Too bad they couldn't have done a bigger marathon on Christmas, though, like all night instead of just until midnight, like they've done in previous years.
I also see they're trying to bring back that New Years Eve countdown thing. I always enjoyed those back in the old days of NAN . . . is it going to be all movies or movies mixed with other things?

Yeah. We get no Christmas episodes from Murphy Brown, A Different World, and Growing Pains, which had a lot, and Designing Women, Mad About You, and AFV, which also had a few.

See first post for changes to the Christmas marathon on Dec. 16 (Roseanne and Cosby Show removed). Also, week of Dec 17 11p-12am holiday hour is now back to Fresh Prince only.

Ugh, and I wanted to see the Roseanne Christmas episodes. I was actually going to watch Nick-at-Nite for a half-hour those nights.

Boy, you gotta be kidding me. This network is nothing but a bunch of imbissiles. All they air all night long are the same 3 shows. It's nothing new, nothing exciting, and nothing watchable. I'm so sick of it. WHen theyfinally do air Roseanne and Cosby, they yank them off at the last minute./ How badly can those 2 shows actually do when they're on? Maybe they'd do better if they were on regularly, and people actually knew about it.
Wouldn't you just love to see this network pull the plug?
I've often wondered if Nickelodeon is phasing N@N out. Wouldn't surprise or bother me..

You never know. Ever since Nickelodeon bought out NAN, things have been crap. It couldn't get worse than it is right now. I wouldn't be surprised either to see Nickelodeon go 24/7.

I think they are trying to bring N@N and Nick closer together, that probably explains the logo change. I don't think Nick will ever go 24hr, kids aren't up all night. People who grew up watching Nick turn to N@N out of habit. TV Land is (or was) what N@N was 15 years ago (except 24hr). Nick and N@N are programmed the save way. Problem is the shows on N@N weren't made to be aired all the time in a random order like Nicktoons are. I wouldn't be surprised to see Stale Prince end up on the Nick daytime schedule. Nick management appears to think there is no market for Classic Nick shows and they don't even own the rights to a lot of those shows anymore
Maybe they'd try a teen version of Nickelodeon or something like Adult Swim (such a stupid name BTW-LOL). The N@N concept they're using just isn't exciting anymore. Trash the name and try something different.
It's obvious none of the people running Nick know how to program syndicated TV (not that the ones at the other networks know much more though, lol).

Of course NAN and Nickelodeon are becoming close . . . that was basically the whole point of Nick buying out NAN. But still, both TVLand and NAN have lost their roots. NAN no longer seems to air shows before 1990, and TVLand no longer airs those rare black and white shows that got them started in the first place. Both are the 2 biggest sellout networks on television today.

We seem to be on the same wavelength here-LOL. I know those TeenNick shows Nickelodeon airs during the evenings are very popular for them, more popular than their cartoons. I wouldn't be surprised if they just started airing those during the night, phasing out NAN altogether.
I'm sure any one of us here could run this network better than they're running it themselves

Shows like George Lopez and Fresh Prince are doing excellent. They would be better off airing those at night than cartoons. So 24/7 Nickelodeon is out of the question, unless they just want to take out the Nick at Nite name and call it Nickelodeon all day, but with sitcoms from 9pm-6am. Some of the movies they air on weekends, like Good Burger and Saturday Night Fever have done well. Good Burger last Saturday drew more than 4 million and was #1 for the week in cable for viewers 9-14. So I wouldn't be surprised if they air movies on Saturdays from like 10p-12a after the Nickelodeon Saturday block.

they have Teen-Nick already though (although as a teenager, i personally think the current line-up of Teen-Nick sucks and is way too childish to be aimed at teens)...but i'd actually like to see an Adult Swim-like block on Nick over present-day N@N.
i agree with the person who said they're trying to bring Nick and Nick@Nite closer together. this is most likely the reason for a) the logo change b) Nick controlling Nick@Nite and c) straying away from the whole "modern classics" image to just a sitcoms network in general. and also, that's probably why Full House is on at 8:30 now. another thing is that Fresh Prince, George Lopez, and even Home Improvement are shows that seem to be popular amongst pre-teens and teens (kids my age like those shows) so that might be why they're phasing out Roseanne, since it's a more "adult show", and bringing in shows like GL/HI.

I don't know how George Lopez and Home Improvement could be any more popular with kids than Cosby or Full House, then. They're all very similiar . . . the main difference is they're age, really. I think it's absolute nonsense to phase out "adult" shows like Roseanne. My daughter is only 12 years old, and she used to watch Roseanne when it was on, yet she doesn't watch HI or GL.
NAN has always been known for airing the classics. Then, just a few years ago, they changed to modern classics, but I was okay with that, because they were still airing some of my favorite shows. But it seems like when Cheers left, the network started going downhill. Sure, I'm not the biggest fan of Cheers, but that's not the point. Ever since it left, they've become more and more dependable on one show. First it was Cosby, then Roseanne, now Fresh Prince.
If TVLand were smart, they'd pick up Roseanne, They're already in the process of picking up Cosby, plus Mad About You and Murphy Brown are coming in the summer, so why not pick up Roseanne if NAN has no intentions of airing it?

Cosby Show is not coming to TV Land. It already aired, and they have no plans as of now to air it. Same for Roseanne. Plus Nick at Nite did run a lot of plays on it. Mad About You will bomb as much as Murphy Brown did, if it is even coming in the summer now.

I think Teen Nick is aimed at tweens (9-14) who are outgrowing Nick but aren't quite old enough for MTV

Nick@Nite seems to aiming towards GenYers and younger GenXers. TV Land has become a baby boomer nostalgia lifestyle channel like MTV became a youth lifestyle channel. Viacom programs their networks towards age groups and other demographics , not themes (Nick-Kids, MTV-Teens and Young Adults, VH1 (People too old for MTV but too young for TV Land),TV Land-Old(er) People, Spike TV (Men), CMT (Basically a hick MTV/VH1, they don't even show country videos anymore). N@N's biggest problem is it has become boring and predictable, they don't seem to put much effort into the channel as long as the ratings are good.

i think Teen Nick can be aimed at Teens can be done right. it was great in the 90s and early '00s (back when it was Snick) for all ages. your kind of right though, the shows now are more aimed at tweens then anyone else.

According to TVLtheLink (sorry to bring him up again!) Cosby is relaucnhing on TV Land, as they are in the processing of getting full rights to the show (it seems they borrowed it when they aired it before). And Mad About You and Murphy Brown are coming in either June or July of this year. I still don't understand why they're coming, though. (they most likely will bomb :( )
But I think it would be smart of TV Land to pick up Roseanne, though. If they're picking up the other 3 shows, why not Roseanne? It seems like it would do well on TV Land.

That's why i was sorry to bring him up-LOL. Of course, I'd believe you over him any day, but since NAN has no interest in airing Cosby, maybe TV Land is trying to pick up full rights.

I don't know. I haven't heard anything about The Cosby Show. What I'm saying is they don't need to "pick-up" rights for it. They already have rights to air them, since Nick at Nite and TV Land are Viacom. As for Murphy Brown and Mad About You, those were scheduled for summer marathons in 2008...but that was like a year or more ago. That was not set in stone and might not happen even. And it shouldn't. Scrubs coming next fall is more than enough...TV Land will share it with Comedy Central, another Viacom station.

Well of course, I'd like to see MAY and Murphy come still, as I love both shows, and would love to see them actually do well on a network.
Scrubs is another thing that shouldn't. It's kind of like George Lopez - NAN started airing it after it's cancellation, now TV Land will start airing Scrubs after it's final season.

Didn't Designing Women bomb on N@N and TVLand picked it up and its doing ok in its current placement on the scedule (it has a block on Mon., and has not been changed in time slots)? Maybe MAY and MB would do better on TVLand then on N@N.
I could care less what plans Nick has with N@N since I have basically stopped watching due to the non stop FP marathons nightly. I have no problem with a channel showing its highest rated show a lot but its getting very old now. I think Nick/N@N would better if they merged N@N into a tween/teen channel and played movies and put the late night hours with the shows that Nick had geared towards teens back in the 80/90's like You Cant Do That...and so forth, and leave Ion and TVLand to do the classics/syndication of other shows.

yea, Scrubs and Just Shoot Me just don't belong on the lineup. Neither show fits in well with the rest of their shows. It makes no sense to air them.

Yeah, Designing Women was like the biggest flop on Nick at Nite, yet it's upheld it's position on the TVLand schedule since October, and if you knew TVLand, you'd know that's hard to do. I guess that gives hope to Murphy and Mad About You when they come to TV Land, since those aren't family shows either.

I would love to see Murphy Brown in those slots, especially 11pm, because then I wouldn't have to watch Fresh Prince if I was bored. But, if tehy were airing it regularly, itwould probably end up at like 1:30am (which is still better than 5am)

Not necessarily. It could be from 10p-1a or 1-4a once a week.
Let's hope it's 10pm-1am, then. Just seeing it one night a week is fine with me, as long as we get to see it.
I expect Hogan's Heroes and The Beverly Hillbillies to both do much better than Scrubs and Just Shoot Me. The Hillbillies will probably do very well. I'm excited about it!
IMO, Just Shoot Me was a disaster pick-up. I know they don't claim to be a classic TV network anymore, but most people don't know that. A majority of the shows (except DW, which COULD be considered more of a 'modern' classic) airing on there is pretty much a classic. I give JSM 2 or 3 weeks.
TV Land needs to stick with the older shows, their most successful shows are all older (Lucy, Andy Griffith, Sanford and Son, Gunsmoke, M*A*S*H).

It's like the networks are scared to even try to expose a show to people. Who woulda guessed a 12 year old kid in 1987 would care about the Patty Duke show? Well I loved it and I REALLY wish I could see it again. Cosby and roseanne were popular and played to death. Fresh Prince I've got nothing against but really how much longer before some backlash for the repeated viewings?
I'm not even an avid watcher and there are episodes I see repeated in the same month.

Nick at Nite Asks Families to Kick a Bad Habit, Pick a Good One in 2008
NEW YORK, Dec 20, 2007 -- Just in time to make those New Year's resolutions, Nick at Nite announces the launch of "Kick One, Pick One" (KOPO), the network's new pro-social campaign to encourage families to eat smarter, get fit and spend more time together. Bowing Jan. 1, KOPO is an on-air, online and grassroots initiative campaign that continues Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group's legacy of empowering its audiences with information and tools to help better their lifestyles and communities.
"We are in a truly unique position to create positive social change through our connection with our audiences," said Marva Smalls, Executive Vice President of Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group Public Affairs. "We have empowered kids to become leaders on the childhood obesity issue through Nick's 'Let's Just Play' campaign, and encouraged families to spend more time with each other at mealtime with Nick at Nite's 'Family Table.' Now, 'Kick One, Pick One' will inform families on the importance of coming together to kick some bad habits and adopt better ones."
Nick at Nite's KOPO initiative will be introduced across multiple platforms through: a series of public service announcements (PSAs) focusing on proper nutrition, getting families physically active and encouraging them to simply take time for family conversation; a website packed with information about the campaign, helpful tips and a family contract to measure their commitment; and an on-air, online and radio promotional campaign.
The campaign launches on-air Jan. 1 with funny and fact-filled PSAs and time-anchored lower thirds (graphics at the bottom of the TV screen) communicating KOPO's goals for the New Year: activity, nutrition and togetherness. Additional spots, focusing on breaking a bad habit in 21 days, are scheduled to debut on-air and online throughout 2008. The campaign will run into the fall of 2008, leading up to Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group's annual Worldwide Day of Play celebration. Worldwide Day of Play is a global celebration of kids' and families' KOPO accomplishments for the year.
Nick at Nite's KOPO initiative was developed with advice and input from an Advisory Board consisting of health educators, physicians, psychologists and more.
"Nick at Nite has challenged families with KOPO to make small lifestyle changes that can add up to big results and have a significant impact on their everyday lives," said nutrition expert, Kathleen Zelman, MPH, RD, and a KOPO Advisory Board member. "All it takes is dedication to making these incremental changes, adopt a new habit, and follow it for 21 days so it becomes familiar and easy to follow long term."
Families will be able to log onto http://www.nickatnite.com starting Dec. 20 to get detailed information about the initiative and sign a printable KOPO contract, signifying their commitment to work together towards the campaign goals. Later in 2008, nickatnite.com will add an online, downloadable tracker that families can use to help them follow their progress step-by-step.
At launch, the site will feature upload functions to capture their participation in the campaign through photos and videos. An embedded video player will continuously stream the campaign PSAs and families will have access to healthy recipes and tips. Through the site's message boards, participants will have a support system and can interact with others. Later, daily tips and weekly recipes will be added, culled from health nutritionists and physicians associated with the campaign. Families will also receive virtual star rewards for progress made.
The campaign will be also supported on-air across various Nickelodeon television networks (a teaser campaign is scheduled to begin on Nick at Nite Dec. 31); through national and local radio spots on CHR, URBAN, POP Radio, Radio Disney and the top 10 local markets; as well as online on ParentsConnect.com and Shockwave.com. On-air and radio promotions will begin in December and online ads are scheduled to begin in January.
Nick at Nite airs hit family sitcoms such as George Lopez, Full House, Home Improvement, Cosby Show and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

I hope Comcast doesn't pick up that channel

I think we all know the truth in that-LOL. They should have put "Nick at Nite airs nothing but George Lopez, and Home Improvement, and Fresh Prince all night"
Um, Cosby Show? It doesn't even air.

I know-LOL. I was surprised they didn't just put "we air Home Improvement, George Lopez, and Fresh Prince." It would have made a lot more sense.

It's not a new TV channel. It is Nick at Nite's new family campaign.
Well, TheLink still insists that Murphy Brown and Mad About You are coming to TV Land with 'full rights' in July. I've never heard of 'full rights'.....I thought all of Viacom's networks had access to shows. Oh well, both shows will flop anyway I guess.
If they have to get 'full rights' to air these shows, how come Murphy Brown aired in August 2006 in a set time slot?

Exactly . . . I wonder the same thing. Possible this means that TV Land will have full rights to air the show whenever, and now NAN would be borrowing it from them instead of TVL borrowing it from NAN.
I think last year, TVL was once again just borrowing the show from their lineup. They started airing it last summer, and the last time they aired it was part of there Christmas Merrython.
I wonder if Will Smith's little remarks about Hitler, and the PR disaster now unfolding, might make N@N pull back on Fresh Prince airings.

You'd think George Lopez or Home Improvement would start getting some week long marathons. As much as I hate George Lopez, I would still rather see a marathon of that instead of Fresh Prince. At least it's something new.
